Li Gets Saved By The Ace

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Frederic Li was all in against one covering stack and one shorter stack.

Small blind: {k-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Frederic Li: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Middle position: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The flop gave Li some backdoors {6-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Spades} but the turn brought the {a-Diamonds} giving Li a pair of aces.

The middle position did not hit the one remaining King on the river and Li took down the pot and a bounty.

Merrick Hits the River to Double Through Deeb

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Shaun Deeb raised to 16,000 from early position before John Merrick three-bet to 24,000. Deeb responded by moving all in, and Merrick called off his last 150,000.

Deeb showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} but was dominated by the {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} of Merrick. The {5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} flop didn't improve either player, but Deeb hit a pair of jacks on the {j-Clubs} turn.

Merrick needed to hit a queen or a ten for a straight to stay alive and was saved when the {q-Hearts} came on the river.

He doubled to 350,000, while Deeb was left with 280,000.

Jeff Platt: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Michael Perrone: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}

The board ran out {6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Platt was rewarded the double while Perrone fell to three big blinds.

Vanessa Kade's chair was empty and her table mates said she lost a coinflip.

Grunzweig Eliminated by Gargano

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Henry Grunzweig jammed all-in preflop with {j-Hearts}{9-Spades} and then Tony Gargano shoved behind him for a slightly bigger stack with {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. The big blind, who had both players covered, called with {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}.

The flop of {10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts} left Grunzweig drawing dead and Gargano looking to fade a one-outer, which he did when the turn was the {j-Diamonds} and the river the {6-Hearts}. Grunzweig was eliminated in 226th place, good for $1,065.
