Rae and van Brugge Shove

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Georgios Zisimopoulos raised to 50,000 with the {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} from under the gun and Donald Rae shoved for 335,000 with the {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} to claim the blinds and antes. Neither of his opponents found a hand to call with and the Greek also folded.

The next hand, Jussi Nevanlinna raised from the button with the {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Kees van Brugge shoved to also win the pot uncontested. He showed his {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

Joep van den Bijgaart Eliminated in 7th Place (€46,095)

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Joep van den Bijgaart
Joep van den Bijgaart

It started rather innocent with a raise of Donald Rae from the button for 55,000. Joep van den Bijgaart in the small blind checked his cards, gave it some thought and then moved all in for 580,000.

Jussi Nevanlinna just flat-called from the big blind and Rae then had a decision to make. After two minutes of consideration, he moved all in and Nevanlinna snap-called to immediately leave the Brit with his head shaking in disbelief.

van den Bijgaart: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Rae: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Nevanlinna: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and van den Bijgaart was eliminated in 7th place for €46,095 while the clock was stopped to count the stack of Nevanlinna. It was then determined to be 2,106,000 and Rae was left with a mere 15 big blinds.

Nevanlinna Calls the Overbet

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Clyde Tjauw Foe raised to 55,000 with {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} and Jussi Nevanlinna defended his big blind with the {8-Hearts}{6-Spades}. The flop {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} gave Nevanlinna a straight and he checked, Tjauw Foe checked behind.

The {J-Hearts} turn brought no betting action either and then the {Q-Diamonds} fell on the river. Nevanlinna checked and Tjauw Foe fired 200,000 for an overbet to send his opponent into the think tank. The Finn eventually called with the straight and won the pot.

Raising Ranges

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

The action folded to Makarios Avramidis and he raised to 65,000 with the {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. His opponents in the blinds folded and the other short stack Joep van den Bijgaart was in the big blind next. Georgios Zisimopoulos raised with the {k-Clubs}{4-Spades} and the Dutchman gave up with nine-five.

Big Move by Nevanlinna

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Jussi Nevanlinna
Jussi Nevanlinna

Jussi Nevanlinna raised to 55,000 from the button with {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Georgios Zisimopoulos just flat-called in the big blind with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. On the flop {5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, the Greek check-called a bet worth 67,000 and did so again on the {J-Clubs} turn for 139,000.

Zisimopoulos then bet the {J-Diamonds} river for 65,000 and Nevanlinna made a big raise to 300,000, sending his opponent into a world of pain. Zisimopoulos tanked for a few minutes and folded, then getting shown the king-eight by Nevanlinna with a big grin on the face.
