Schwippert Gone for Good

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Jan-Eric Schwippert
Jan-Eric Schwippert

An already big pot had emerged with the flop reading {J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and [Removed:17] checked out of the big blind. Jan-Eric Schwippert bet 31,000 from under the gun and Yan called. After the {5-Diamonds} turn, Yan checked again and Schwippert moved all in, receiving a snap-call.

Jan-Eric Schwippert: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}
[Removed:17]: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The {9-Spades} on the river was a blank and Schwippert was eliminated for a second time, less than 10 minutes after buying back in with an "aces cracked" story to tell. The German is also the first player to be eliminated on two bullets, and won't be allowed to enter the competition again.

Bonomo Busts Chouity

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We were there just for the showdown, but table mate Jack Salter filled us in on the details of the hand that would see Chouity make his departure.

Isaac Haxton limped the button and Justin Bonomo completed from the small blind. Big blind Nicolas Chouity checked his option in the big blind and the three of them saw a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{5-Spades}.

Both blinds checked and Haxton bet 2,000. Bonomo check-raised to 8,000 and Chouity shoved for about 29,000 total. Haxton folded, Bonomo called.

Justin Bonomo: {3-Spades}{9-Spades}
Nicolas Chouity: {8-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

The {K-Hearts} on the turn was a safe card for Chouity, but the {10-Spades} on the river wasn't.

"Good luck guys" Chouity said as he made his exit. Bonomo silently started stacking chips.

Some of Everything

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Steffen Sontheimer
Steffen Sontheimer

EPT13 Prague Main Event Day 1a chip leader Henrik Hecklen has signed up for the Single-Day High Roller and was joined by David Peters, while Dominik Nitsche and Steffen Sontheimer have been eliminated. Furthermore, Ryan McEathron, Orpen Kisacikoglu and Jan-Eric Schwippert fired a second bullet and brought the number of re-entries to four, the total entries to 69.

Sontheimer moved all in for his last 26,500 on a heads-up flop of {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{8-Clubs} for around the size of the pot. Sergio Aido seemingly didn't like the call, but did so after some consideration.

Steffen Sontheimer: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Sergio Aido: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}

The {4-Spades} turn and {3-Spades} river brought running spades and the nut flush for Aido, who immediately apologized for it.

Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

From the small blind, Steve O'Dwyer bet 3,000 on {3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. His neighbor, Martin Kozlov in the big blind, called. O'Dwyer bet another 5,000 on the {K-Clubs} turn and 12,300 on the {2-Hearts} river. Kozlov called both times, but mucked upon being shown the {6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} by O'Dwyer.

Zhao's Hero Call Not Rewarded

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

After a raise by [Removed:17] from under the gun and a call by Dong Zhao from one seat over, the flop fell {Q-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}. Yan checked, Zhao bet 4,300 and Yan check-raised to 12,000. Zhao made it to go 31,500 and Yan called.

The duo checked the {4-Spades} on the turn and Yan then moved all in after the {K-Clubs} river. Zhao spent three minutes in the think tank and called to see Yan table {J-Spades}{10-Spades} for a flush. Zhao mucked his {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and the stacks were counted. Yan had 85,900 and that had Zhao covered to reduce the field by one.

Aido Busts Kisacikoglu and Doubles Through Er

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Sergio Aido raised to 5,000 and Orpen Kisacikoglu shoved from the button. Zorlu Er in the big blind asked for a count, and once determined it was 48,900, called. Aido then shoved for little more and Er called it off to put two players at risk.

Orpen Kisacikoglu: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Sergio Aido: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Zorlu Er: {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}

The board ran out {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{2-Spades} and Kisacikoglu was eliminated, while Aido almost tripled after doubling through Er for 61,200.

Mattsson Eliminated

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Simon Mattsson
Simon Mattsson

Simon Mattsson started strong, but a cooler running ace-king into kings set him back in a major way. He was moved tables and just now hit the rail.

From the cutoff, Isaac Haxton raised to 3,600. Mattsson on the button shoved for 21,500 and both blinds folded before Haxton called.

Isaac Haxton: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Simon Mattsson: {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The {Q-Hearts}{K-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} resulted in Mattsson getting up while Haxton resumed his conversation with his neighbor.

Alexandru Papazian
Alexandru Papazian

Alexandru Papazian has run out of chips on the first bullet while half a dozen players were waiting for a new table to open and enter the tournament. "No worries, I am in no rush," Jack Salter said when being told to wait, while Ramin Hajiyev was waiting just behind him as well.

Hajiyev finished third in this very event last year and has been a regular on the High Roller tournaments for a few seasons. The Azerbaijani also came second to [Removed:17] in the EPT13 Malta €25,750 Super High Roller during the previous EPT festival in 2016.

Schwippert Next Casualty

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Only a few days ago, Jan-Eric Schwippert had a huge score after emerging victorious in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic $100,000 Super High Roller in Las Vegas, but the trip to Prague has not been as successful so far. He busted in the Main Event and just now shoved for his last 12,400 in the Single-Day High Roller.

Mikhail Rudoy called in the small blind and Pierre Neuville folded in the big blind. Rudoy tabled {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and Schwippert first exposed the {J-Spades} followed by the {K-Spades}. The German was drawing dead after the turn of a board {Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and left the table with a "good luck guys."

One hand later, Jean-Noel Thorel shoved his short stack of around 16,000 and claimed the blinds and antes. He picked up a T-5,000 and proudly held it up with a big smile and "comeback time," triggering smiles all around.
