Afriat Doubles Through Polop

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

With {5-Spades}{q-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} on the felt, Eric Afriat shoved all in from the big blind for about 500,000 into a pot that contained something like that amount already. David Polop called in the cutoff with {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} but Afriat had him dead with {5-}{5-}.

Players are now on break.

Peter Mugar Eliminated in 16th Place ($21,122)

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Peter Mugar
Peter Mugar

Will Failla opened in the cutoff and called the shove of Peter Mugar, who had about 260,000 on the button.

"I guess I've got a wheel," Failla said, showing {a-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

He needed something along those lines as Mugar had {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. The {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Clubs} had Failla calling for a ten to chop but he found a {5-Hearts} river.

Rheem and Afriat on the Comeback Trail

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Chino Rheem looks to have tripled up already, and Eric Afriat is following suit.

First Afriat got it in with tens against aces and hit a straight on the river. Then, he flopped open-ended with {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and got it in versus Matthias Auer's aces, turning the straight to lock it up.

Rheem Tanks it Down

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Chino Rheem and Chris Moorman saw a {6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{k-Spades} flop and Rheem bet 145,000 in the small blind. Moorman made it 325,000 and Rheem called. Rheem check-called a much smaller bet of 155,000 on the {6-Diamonds} turn, bringing an {8-Diamonds} river.

Rheem checked and Moorman jammed. The longest hand of the tournament ensued as Rheem tanked for nearly 10 minutes. Everyone was gathered around waiting for the table to be broken. Finally, he folded.

Qing Liu was all in for 210,000 in the cutoff with {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} against the {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} of Ankush Mandavia on his left and the {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} of big blind Marius Heiene.

The board ran {k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Clubs}, so Liu doubled on the river and Mandavia busted Heiene in the side pot.

On another table, Jordan Cristos leaned over and watched the proceedings as he got the last of his micro-stack in. He went bust with {q-}{2-} to the {a-}{a-} of Matthias Auer but the tournament staff hasn't come to a consensus on payouts. Cristos maintains he waited until Heiene busted to get his chips in but the staff hasn't agreed whether the pay jump will be chopped or go to Cristos.

Lee Shows a Big Bluff, Cristos Survives

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Chris Moorman opened in the hijack and Chino Rheem call on his left before Kyung Lee made it 225,000 in the big blind. Only Rheem continued but he quickly folded to a bet on the {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{q-Hearts} flop.

Lee showed {6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

At the neighboring table, Jordan Cristos got all in for less than a big blind but showed {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} and beat the {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} of Sung Hyun, who isolated after a couple of calls.
