Juha Helppi didn’t manage to turn his tournament around and was eliminated shortly after coming back from the break. He had 675,000 chips or a bit over eight big blinds (or four big bets) at the new level.

Helppi lost about half of his stack in two hands before his final against Nick Guagenti. Guagenti opened from the cut-off, Joseph Brodsky in the small blind called and Helppi in the big blind three-bet. Guagenti called, Brodsky folded.

The flop was J?3?K?. Helppi now checked, Guagenti bet and Helppi called.

The turn was the 7?, Helppi checked again and this time folded to Guagenti’s bet.

On his final hand, Helppi raised form the button and got called by George Chen in the big blind.
The flop was A?8?2?, Chen checked and Helppi put in his final 75,000 chips. Chen called.

Juha Helppi: K?4?All in
George Chen: K?J?

Chen was ahead with a better king high, and the turn 7? and river 10? meant the end of Helppi’s deep run.

Guagenti Continuing in the Right Direction; Helppi on the Short Stack

Level 27 : Limits 60,000/120,000, 0 ante

Nick Guagenti continued to be on a bit of a heater, winning more pots to get himself back in the lead.

He won a decent-sized pot off of Joseph Brodsky by turning trips on 5?9?J?5?. The river was the K?, Brodsky checked and Guagenti bet. Brodsky called but had to accept the bad news after Guagenti flipped over A?5x. Brodsky showed the table a king for rivered kings up.

Guagenti won a few smaller pots after that and is again in a substantial chip lead, while Helppi can’t seem to get anything going, losing pots to multiple players. He is now on a very short stack with around 420,000.
