Clint Wolcyn opened to 120,000 from the small blind and Brayden Gazlay called from the big blind.
The flop came A?Q?9?. Wolcyn fired an 80,000 continuation bet only for Gazlay to raise to 300,000. Wolcyn made the call.
On the 6? turn Wolcyn checked and Gazlay bet 800,000. Wolcyn moved all in for about 1,350,000 and Gazlay quickly called with a covering stack to put Wolcyn at risk.
Clint Wolcyn: A?K?5?3?
Brayden Gazlay: A?Q?9?4?
Gazlay was ahead with top two pair but Wolcyn still had outs to either half the pot if he completed his low draw or the entire pot if he spiked a king. His deep run came to an end in sixth place after finding no help on the 9? river while Gazlay dragged in a pot worth over 3,000,000.
Peter Gelencser raised on the button, John Hennigan reraised in the big blind, and Gelencser called.
Hennigan took one and bet, while Gelencser called after taking two. Hennigan tossed away a jack on the second draw and bet again.
'
Gelencser called and Hennigan stood pat. Gelencser took two as action was checked. Hennigan turned over a 10-8 and Gelencser mucked.
A few hands later, Gelencser raised, Brayden Gazlay reraised, and Gelencser called.
Both players drew two and Gelencser got his last chips in. Gazlay stood pat on the last draw and turned over J-8-6-4-2, while Gelencser had 8-6-5-4 drawing one. He caught a 3x on the final draw.
"He made it," Gazlay called over to his rail as Gelencser doubled up.
John Hennigan opened from the cutoff, Robert Wells three-bet from the small blind, Hennigan four-bet and Wells made the call. Wells stood pat while Hennigan drew one.
After the first draw Wells bet, Hennigan raised and Wells called. Wells stood pat again while Hennigan drew one.
Wells check-called another bet from Hennigan after the second draw and stood pat. Hennigan drew one.
With no draws remaining both players checked. Hennigan tabled 7?6?4?3?2? for a seven-low and seven-badugi to scoop the pot.
Peter Gelencser: XxXx/Q?2?8?9?/Xx
Brayden Gazlay: XxXx/9?10?5?K?/Xx
Brayden Gazlay bet on fourth street and Peter Gelencser called.
Gazlay bet again on fifth, Gelencser raised, and Gazlay called.
Gelencser bet on sixth, then moved all in on seventh. Gazlay called both bets and Gelencser ended up with Q?2? for two pair to win the pot and double up.
The 2024 WSOP is only five days in, but already there have been some moves and shakers in the $25K Fantasy League.
As of this writing, David Coleman is the top point earner with 42 points thanks to a sixth-place finish in Event #1: $5,000 Champions Reunion NLH Freezeout for $69,231. That’s great value for Team The Dinkers (Josh Kay & the Florida crew) as they bought him for just $3 in the draft, meaning Coleman is putting up 14 points per dollar (Pts/$).
Not far behind with 39 points is league commissioner Daniel Negreanu, though his points per dollar is a paltry 0.3 Pts/$. Negreanu, who belongs to Team DPMC (defending champs Donnie Peters and Matt Clark) finished 50th in Event #1: $5,000 Champions Reunion for $9,141 and the following day placed 16th out of 3,485 players in Event #3: $500 WSOP Kickoff NLH Freezeout for $8,541.
The best value of the draft so far is Team Lady Gaga’s (Ren Lin) Qiang Xu, who they bought for a dollar. Xu, who won a bracelet at the 2023 WSOP, has 35 points (35 pts/$.) thanks to 37th-place finish in Event #3 for $4,596.
