Kornuth Asks for All of It

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Action was picked up on the flop with the board reading A?5?K? and players heads up. Chance Kornuth checked from the small blind and a player in middle position bet 28,000. Kornuth made the call.

The turn was the 3?. Kornuth checked, his opponent bet 67,000, and Kornuth put in a check-raise to 170,000, receiving a call from his opponent.

Kornuth moved all in, covering his opponent's remaining 260,000 on the 7? river. After briefly considering his options, the middle position player made the call.

Kornuth tabled Q?9? for a queen-high flush which was good enough to secure the elimination and collect a sizable pot.

Richez Binks Flush and Doubles Through Ketzer

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Clement Richez
Clement Richez

Felipe Ketzer had raised with the J?J? and Clement Richez called with the K?Q? on the button before Daniel Weinman three-bet out of the blinds with the A?K?. Both came along to a three-way flop of 7?5?4? on which it checked to Ketzer, who bet110,000.

Richez then pushed all-in for 430,000 and Weinman asked for a count on the shove as well as the stack of Ketzer. Weinman reluctantly folded and Ketzer went into the tank, talking through possible combinations.

"I have no heart," Ketzer mentioned before verifying the amount to call once more before he showed the heart to make the call.

The 9? turn instantly locked up the double for Richez, which made the 2? river a formality.

The second level of the day saw the field decrease to only 891 players, with some big names leaving and a new chipleader emerging. The remaining players are now on a 20-minute break and below are listed some highlights to enjoy during that time.

Tardif Triples Up; Butcher Left Short

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Patrick Tardif
Patrick Tardif

Patrick "Egption" Tardif opened the action with a raise to 20,000 from early position. Bradley Butcher was in the next seat over and jammed all in for 221,000, covering Tardif.

It then folded to Jarett Mullins in the small blind, who thought for a bit before putting in the call. Tardif then called as well and it was a three-way preflop all-in.

Patrick Tardif: Q?Q?
Bradley Butcher: A?K?
Jarett Mullins: A?K?

Tardif was in a great spot to triple up, while the other two players were hoping to chop up his chips.

"I'll take five clubs," Butcher said before the flop came down 6?9?2?.

"Heart!" Mullins commanded to no avail when the turn was the 7?.

Both players then stayed quiet as the 5? river rolled off, officially giving Tardif the triple-up with his pair of queens. Meanwhile, Butcher was left with only three big blinds.

Moses in the Blender as He Talks to Himself

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
David Moses
David Moses

With a sizeable pot already brewed of about 460,000 David Moses led out for 30,000 on the 6?5?5?5? turn. Paul Kruger was the only opponent in the hand and made the call.

The 9? completed the board and Moses checked to Kruger who pushed forward a stack of green mixed with some reds. Moses asked for a count and the dealer let him know it was 390,000.

Moses went deep into the tank, and begin talking aloud. "You're repping ace-five of hearts, aces, kings. Would be sick if you had nines."

A few more moments went by before he continued, "If you're bluffing you have to show since PokerNews is here."

Kruger remained silent and still as Moses thought longer. He stacked up a pile of chips and looked as if he was about to call when he said, "Even though I don't think you're capable of bluffing here, I want to call."

After a couple of seconds longer a tablemate called time, and the floor came over.

Moses said as the floor came, "Sorry guys, I have had enough time."

Before the floor started the count down, Moses tossed his cards into the muck. "Show if you're bluffing. You'll have all the glory."

Kruger still remained silent as he pulled in the pot and Moses concluded with "Good hand, Paul."

Andrew Benedict opened to 22,000 in early position and was called by the cutoff. Jason Somerville three-bet to 110,000 from the small blind and Benedict ripped all in for 493,000. The cutoff quickly folded but Somerville asked for a count which took over two minutes. Somerville thought for an additional minute and then made the call.

Andrew Benedict: K?K?
Jason Somerville: A?K?

The dealer fanned the flop of A?J?8? with the ace in the window to give Somerville a commanding lead. The 10? on the turn provided some chop outs but the 8? on the river sent Benedict to the payout desk.
