Chu Goes in the Tank with Aces

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Victor Chu and Roman Emelyanov were heads up in a four-bet pot with around 35,000 in the middle already.

The dealer spread the flop of 9?6?2? and the action checked to Chu who bet 15,000 in the cutoff. Emelyanov check-raised all in for 46,800 from the big blind and Chu went into the tank. It was nearly three minutes later that Chu finally decided to call and good thing he did.

Roman Emelyanov: J?J?
Victor Chu: A?A?

Chu was out front with his pocket aces, leaving Emelyanov drawing to just two outs. The 9? and 4? runout changed nothing and Emelyanov was eliminated late on Day 1a.

Aylar Lie
Aylar Lie

Aylar Lie raised 1,200 under the gun and only Kenji Harada made the call in the cutoff.

The dealer fanned a flop of 6?5?5?, and Lie continued for 800. Harada called.

The 3? peeled off on the turn and Lie fired a second shell of 2,300 and Harada didn't go anywhere as he put in the call.

When the K? landed on the river, Lie fired 7,500 into the middle, and Harada snap-called.

Lie mucked her hand and Harada tabled K?Q? for a pair of kings on the river.

Water on Table 601! Too Many Beers for Polk

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Doug Polk
Doug Polk

The action folded around to Doug Polk in the small blind while Mike Smith pleaded for a walk in the big blind.

"I'm definitely not folding," Polk said as he threw in chips to call. Smith checked his option and the flop of J?5?2? hit the felt. Both players checked and the A? landed on the turn.

Polk checked again and Smith made a bet of 1,100 which Polk called. The river was the 6? and Polk checked again. Smith tossed in a bet of 1,900 and Polk looked him up. Smith turned over K?9? for the nut flush.

"Ahh ha! I got you!" Polk shouted as he tabled his K?6? and pushed the six forward showing his pair of sixes.

"I have the nuts!" Smith yelled back as he wiggled the K?.

"Oh f***! I didn't see four spades on the board," Polk replied as the table burst into laughter. "Water on Table 601, please!"

Kim Cracks Aces Then Goes Down

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

The action was caught when Tae Gon Kim, on the button, and the player seated on his left had already flipped their cards on a 4?10?5?K?3? board.

Tae Gon Kim: K?K?
Opponent: A?A?

According to Kim, he fired three barrels, with the last one being his last 12,000, and was called by the aces. Thanks to his set, Kim doubled up to 67,000.

Two hands later, Kim opened from the hijack to 1,500 and was called by Oleksii Kravchuk in the small blind.

On 9?2?Q?, Kim bet 1,300, and Kravchuk check-called. Then the 4? landed on the turn, and Kravchuk check-called a 4,000 bet.

The J? came on the river, and both players checked. First to reveal his cards, Kravchuk showed Q?10?. It appeared to be the winning hand as Kim mucked his cards.

Gold Gets Bluffed, Maybe

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

There was a 17,000 pot brewing between Jamie Gold and Delmiro Toledo on a board of 5?2?7?2?. Toledo check-called an extra 5,000 on the turn before the 6? river was dealt.

Toledo now led for 8,000 and Gold lamented: "Really, you call me down for a diamond?"

Gold then folded with the words "If it's a bluff, it's a nice bluff", whereupon Toledo instantly showed the 4? for an ambiguous card.
