Derose Then Defall

Level 10 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Four players were all in preflop with the small blind (2,500), under-the-gun John Derose (23,500), and Tianyi Mu (45,000) in middle position at risk. The button covered the other players.

Small Blind: {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
John Derose: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Tianyi Mu: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Button: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The flop of {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} gave Derose the lead with a set of nines. The {k-Hearts} turn gave Mu and the button two pair, but the {6-Spades} river helped no one. The small blind headed to the exit, Derose more than tripled up and a chopped side-pot for Mu and the button.

The very next hand Mu and Derose had their chips in the middle preflop once again, this time Mu was the effective stack for 21,500.

Tianyi Mu: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}
John Derose: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The {10-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{a-Hearts} flop was pretty safe for Derose, but Mu drilled the {8-Diamonds} on the turn for a set. the {5-Clubs} river was no help for Derose and Mu doubled up to get close to parity from the hand previous.

Bach Flops a Pair to Knockout Opponent

Level 10 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

The under-the-gun player led out for 7,000. After a fold from the next player, Christopher Bach made the call. The rest of the table folded, giving heads-up action on the flop.

The {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{j-Clubs} flop prompted a shove from Bach's opponent, with about 15,000 behind. Bach made the quick call, and the players tabled their hands.

Opponent: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Christopher Bach: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Bach was ahead with his pair of jacks, but his opponent had an over card and was open-ended. Bach's pair would hold, however, as the board bricked out, giving Bach the pot and sending his opponent to the rail.

Vardapetyan's King-High is Good

Level 10 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Joining the action on the turn, the board was {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and the player in middle position bet 16,000. Edgar Vardapetyan called in the small blind.

The river came the {q-Spades} and action checked through. Vardapetyan tabled {k-}{10-} for a pair of queens with a king-kicker. His opponent threw his hand into the muck as Vardapetyan took in the pot.

Tutone Cracks Aces With One Tone Board

Level 10 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Action was picked up with both players tabling their hands preflop, for an 83,000 pot.

Under-the-gun player: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Joey Tutone: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

Tutone needed big help and the board ran out {6-Spades}{k-Clubs}{7-Spades}, bringing some hope with a spade flush draw.

A black {3-Clubs} was of no use though, and all eyes were on the dealer waiting for the river.

The {8-Spades} brought a big sigh from Tutone, completing his flush, and his opponent laughed before tapping the table and exiting graciously.

On the same table, Calais Campbell of the Baltimore Ravens was sitting on a healthy 121,000 stack.

Ritchey Pushes, Called By Red Sevens

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Michelle Ritchey was all-in from late position for 20,000, and only the small blind wanted to look her up.

Michelle Ritchey: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Small Blind: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The flop of {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} gave her opponent a full house, and her tournament life was at stake.

Ritchey was hoping for running cards or an ace or queen. She didn't find it on the {j-Spades} turn, but had a few more outs.

The river was the {a-Clubs}, and she thanked the dealer for the better full house.
