Griffeth Takes Out Depaulo

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Ryan Depaulo
Ryan Depaulo

Roongsak Griffeth raised preflop and Ryan Depaulo three-bet from the small blind to 1,250,000, leaving himself about 50,000 behind. Griffeth called to see the {8-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop.

Griffeth immediately put in enough chips to put Depaulo all in before being told it was still Depaulo's turn. Depaulo checked and Griffeth again went all in.

Depaulo checked the tournament board to see how many spots he was away from a pay jump and took his time before a player at the table called the clock. As the tournament official counted to zero, Depaulo stuck in his last chips and turned over {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

Griffeth had {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and stayed in front as the turn and river came {2-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Depaulo, the Day 1 chip leader, was eliminated in 37th place.

Fox Picks Up Aces to Double

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Elio Fox was all in for 1,150,000 from early position and called by Toby Price. Fox showed {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}, while Price showed {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}.

"I apologize in advance," Price said. But no apology would be necessary as Fox's aces stayed in front on a board of {5-Spades}{j-Spades}{k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{k-Spades} to double him up.

Sileo Flips Lee to the Rail

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Kris Lee ripped all in for a little over 600,000 in early position and James Sileo called from a couple of seats over. The rest of the table folded and the cards were tabled.

Kris Lee: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
James Sileo: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

The flop came {8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Lee was unable to find any help as of yet. The {7-Hearts} on the turn and the {5-Diamonds} on the river gave Sileo the win and Lee was eliminated.

McCarter Rockets to Chip Lead

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Caroline McCarter was being pushed a massive pot while Craig Burke and another player were standing up from their seats awaiting their payout slips.

McCarter had {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} in front of her while Burke had {a-}{10-} and the other opponent two nines. The board didn't help either player, and McCarter knocked out both to move up to 4,500,000.

Hiller Can't Get Morel to Fold

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, Ryan Hiller checked from the big blind. David Morel bet 275,000 from the cutoff and Hiller shoved all in for 1,220,000. Morel went into the tank for around three minutes before finally making the call.

Hiller turned over {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} as he stood up from his seat and Morel showed {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. The {10-Clubs} on the river gave both players a flush but Morel had the larger of the two.

Bustouts Gallore

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Besnainou Ange was all in with {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} against the {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} of Caroline McCarter. McCarter hit a set on the {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop and improved to a full house on the {a-Spades} turn, leaving Ange drawing dead and headed for the payout desk.

At the same time on an adjacent table, Zachary Nicholson moved all in with {a-}{5-} but didn't catch up to the {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} of Martin Bicanik on a board of {5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

Damian Salas was eliminated on the same table the next hand. Salas' time as reigning Main Event champion will last another few hours, but his time in this tournament is at an end.

Jim Collopy: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Timothee Scotti: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
