The final day of the RunGood Poker Series Council Bluffs $575 Main Event has arrived.
Three starting flights brought 328 entries out to the Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs, IA for the $100,000-guaranteed prize pool event, which ultimately became $164,000 as 72 participants battled their way through the field to reach Day 2.
Flight A chip leader Eric Atchison enters Day 2 as far and away the top stack with 303,500. Flight C chip leader Kyle Hinnerichs comes to Day 2 second in chips with 240,500, followed by Mark Lafata (180,500) in third. Defending champion Nick Burris enters the final day with an above-average stack of 129,000. An array of notable players will return for Day 2, including Mark Fink (105,000), Eric Polson (177,000), Kris Burchfield (144,000), Jesse McVicker (122,000), Henry Gingerich (92,000), Kipp Smith (78,000), and Ryan Phan (74,500)
Thirty-three players are set to make it into the money this afternoon, meaning just under half of the returning field will lock up the first-level payout of $979. Play will resume at the beginning of Level 13 (2,000/3,000/3,000), with levels seeing an increase to 45 minutes for Day 2 and 15-minute breaks after every three levels as a result of the increased playing time.
Cards are in the air at noon local time with play scheduled to continue until a champion has been crowned and awarded the winner’s share of $38,539 and a Signature Rings RGPS championship ring.
