Moneymaker Storms into the Chiplead

Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker
In a very dramatic hand Chris Moneymaker has just taken out Norwegian Age Spets to win the largest pot of the tournament so far.

Spets opened pre-flop and Moneymaker called.

The flop was {5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Spets bet 6,000, Moneymaker made minimum raise to 12,000 and Spets reraised him back to 24,000. Moneymaker thought for a while then moved all in and Spets called.

{A-Clubs}{A-Spades} for Spets
{2-Clubs}{2-Spades} and bottom set for Moneymaker

{2-Hearts} on the turn giving him quads and the former World Champion is now on a stack of approximately 140,000.

Roeg on the Move

Nicky Roeg
Nicky Roeg
Coming into the day, Dutchman Nicky Roeg was short-stacked on just over 10,000. He immediately got to work doubling through Michael Greco all in pre-flop, with {A-Spades}{K-Spades} vs. the former actor's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}.

Neither player improved and Greco was left crippled. Roeg then completes back-to-back double-throughs after convincing Mehmet Cinar that his {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} was good enough after he checked a queen-high flop. The nines were not as Cinar moved all in to be instantly called and shown {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} by Roeg.

Negreanu Out!

Why so glum? Oh yeah.
Why so glum? Oh yeah.
Daniel Negreanu has been eliminated from the London EPT. Negreanu limped under the gun and called a 2,500 chip raise from Joseph Mouawad on the button.

Flop came {Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}, Negreanu check called a 5,000 bet from Mouawad. Turn came {7-Spades}, Negreanu checked and Mouawad bet 5,000. Negreanu then moved all in for 11,000 and Mouawad called.

Negreanu showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Mouawad showed {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

River was the {Q-Spades} to give Mouawad the winning spade flush against Negreanu's trip queens.
