Shevliakov All In and Chops

Level 31 : Blinds 100,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

After several circuits that mostly consisted of single preflop raises or shoves, most coming from big stack Toni Kaukua, Aleksandr Shevliakov finally found himself all in with a short stack.

Martin Stausholm raised for 250,000 and Diogo Coelho called. Shevliakov reshoved for around 500,000, Stausholm folded and Coelho made a pot odds call. Players flipped their cards.

Aleksandr Shevliakov: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Diogo Coelho: {q-Spades}{6-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Shevliakov was ahead preflop with his pocket eights. Coelho picked up a straight draw on the flop and hit his straight on the turn. The river, however, completed the straight on the board and players chopped the pot.

Level 31 : Blinds 100,000/150,000, 150,000 ante
Martin Stausholm
Martin Stausholm

Toni Kaukua opened to 300,000 from the hijack and Diogo Coelho called from the cutoff before Martin Stausholm also called out of the big blind.

All three players checked on the {2-Spades}{j-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop and the same action took place on the {a-Diamonds} turn. All three players checked once more on the {8-Spades} river and his opponents were surprised when Stausholm turned over {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} to win the pot with jacks full of deuces.

"Pretty good," commented Kaukua.

Diogo Coelho opened to 300,000 and Martin Jacobson three-bet jammed from the small blind for around four blinds. Coelho called for just a little bit more.

Martin Jacobson: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Diogo Coelho: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Jacobson was dominated but got some hope when the flop landed {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} to give him a gutshot. Nonetheless, the board finished out {j-Spades}{6-Hearts} and the WSOP Main Event champion hit the rail in seventh place for 126,500.

Christian Pederson Eliminated in 8th Place (103,700)

Level 29 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Christian Pedersen
Christian Pedersen

In the previous hand, Toni Kaukua raised from the hijack and faced a three-bet from Pedersen. Kaukua folded.

The next hand, action folded around to Kaukua, who raised to 200,000 from the cutoff. Christian Pedersen put in a three-bet again, this time from the small blind to 700,000. Kaukua didn't want to be pushed around and quickly four-bet all in for a few million.

It turned out Pedersen wasn't playing games. He had a legitimate hand. Kaukua on the other hand was attempting a four-bet bluff to get his opponent to fold.

Pedersen called and players flipped their cards.

Christian Pedersen: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Toni Kaukua: {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} to give Kaukua a pair of aces. Players around the table looked visibly shocked. Pedersen left the table in a storm, uttering a profanity under his breath that can't be repeated here. Pederson was eliminated in eighth place for 103,700.

Players were still discussing it as the next hand was dealt.

"What you think that was a fish move?" said Kaukua.
