Table Of Contents
Just several weeks after winning one of the biggest events in the poker calendar for more than $3 million, David Yan overcame another field of world-class poker players and added to the growing title haul that he's put together since the turn of the year.
At EPT Barcelona, Yan continued his red hot form in 25,000 No-Limit Holdem II, topping the 34-entry field for a six-figure payout. It was also his second 2023 win under the PokerStars umbrella, with his first triumph coming in January's PCA $50,000 High Roller.
The New Zealander defeated Pablo Brito Silva after a heads-up deal was made which saw the trophy and 260,899 go to Yan while Silva was awarded 204,441.
"I just feel grateful and fortunate. I was so lucky to run good in the right situations," Yan told PokerNews a few minutes after his victory. "I won the all-ins that I needed to. It was fun."
Felipe Ketzer, who's already booked his own High Roller win at the festival, rounded out the podium finishes, while Hyun Kim, Jean-Noel Thorel and Biao Ding were the only other players to see a return on their five-figure investment.

Sergio Aguero Makes High Roller Final Table
It also appears that ex-soccer star Sergio Aguero has been well and truly bitten by the poker bug after being spotted at another live felt once again.
The former Manchester City and FC Barcelona striker shocked the poker community by rocking up to the 2023 World Series of Poker, where he made Day 3 of the Main Event and made the money in the WSOP $50,000 High Roller.
While Aguero came up short of cashing this time around, he still played a beautiful game and made it to the final table despite the tough opposition. He outlasted the likes of Steve O'Dwyer, Niklas Astedt and Hall of Famer Erik Seidel.
Aguero entered the final nine as the short stack and was taken out of play by Yan, to bring an end to his deep run.
Ren Lin was the next player to depart, and Timothy Adams was the bubble-boy once again at Barcelona after running into Kim's trips.
Yan and Brito Silva then got to work and sent Ding, Thorel, Kim and Ketzer to the wrong side of the rail. Yan began the battle for the trophy and first-place spoils after a deal was agreed between himself and the Brazilian. A short affair saw Yan pick off a triple-barrel bluff with pocket kings to wrap up proceedings.
