WSOP Day 6: Vitch leads Triple Draw, Hellmuth Makes Day 2 in Omaha-8

The 2018 World Series of Poker is on to Day 6, and it's a big one. Just a single new event will get underway, but two new bracelet winners will be crowned. One of them will receive a figure just shy of $3,000,000 in the $100,000 High Roller with six players left in contention.

Here's a look at what's on tap for the WSOP as we close down to being one week into the world's biggest poker event.

Event #5: $100,000 No-Limit Hold��em High Roller

A field of 105 entries gathered for one of the biggest events of the summer. Over the course of three days, a final table was forged. With just ten players returning on Day 3, the penultimate day was a short one as the goal was simply to play down to six.

Nick Petrangelo lead heading into Day3 and does so still going into Day 4. He has a sizable margin of 10 big blinds over his next closest opponent; Bryn Kenney.

Petrangelo and Kenney will need to battle with shorter stacks Aymon Hata and Stephen Chidwick, and medium stacks Andreas Eiler (who finished runner-up in the �111,111 One Drop at the WSOPE last November) and (2018 Bracelet winner) Elio Fox.

The remaining six are guaranteed $484,551 but all vying for the $2,910,227 first-place prize.

Event#7: $565 COLOSSUS No-Limit Hold��em

After two days and four flights, it's already set in stone that the COLOSSUS is once again going to be colossal.

Players were allowed to two entries per flight, so could already be in for eight bullets total. Some big names already through to Day 2 are Phil Ivey (63,000), and Alex Foxen (268,000).

The action is far from over as today, Monday, June 4, another two flights are on the schedule. Day 1e live updates starts at 10 AM while the last flight (Day 1f) gets underway at 5 PM.

Event #8: $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball

After two days of Mixed Triple Draw Lowball, a field of 321 has been whittled down to just 12. The majority of the prize pool is still up for grabs, and no one is in a better position to take down the biggest share of it than two-time bracelet winner Chris "deathdonkey" Vitch.

Two years ago, Vitch won the $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball event the very first time it was held at the World Series of Poker. Vitch topped a field of 236 for $136,854 and his first bracelet.

Now, he's aiming for bracelet number three overall and the second one from this event as he bagged a narrow chip lead with 12 left heading into the final day of the event. $180,455 awaits the winner, but Vitch has some stiff competition as five bracelet winners are also in the hunt for their next shiny gold trophy. They are; Scott Seiver, Bryce Yockey, Luis Velador, Frank Kassela, and Mike Leah.

Event #9: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship

If you're obsessed with bracelet winners, there's an even better spot to rail in the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino than the final day of the $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball event. A couple feet over, on Day 2 of the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, it's a bracelet galore as just about every other player has at least one of poker's most coveted prizes around their wrist. Well, not literally probably, but they have a ton combined in their respective prize cabinets.

Leading the charge is old school grinder Chris Bjorin. The tough Swede has two bracelets and 249,500 in the bag when play resumes at 2 PM local time. Close on his tail is Jesse Martin, another 2-time bracelet winner.

Robert Mizrachi, Nick Schulman, and Tom Koral are just some of the other players still left in the field of 75 from 161 entries. But most railbirds will come to the Rio to see Phil Hellmuth in action. The record-breaking 14-time bracelet winner bagged 136,000 in chips and will return to action for Day 2 with blinds of 4,000 and 8,000.

With Hellmuth still left in the field, there's a reasonable chance his table will be picked for live streaming. Today's action will be streamed for free on Twitch, which can be found within our live reporting pages as soon as the production gets underway.

Event #12: $1,500 Dealers Choice 6-Handed

The sole new event to get underway at the 2018 World Series of Poker today is the 12th event of the series; the $1,500 Dealers Choice 6-handed. In the event, last year won by David Bach for $119,399, the player on the button gets to choose the game. The list on tap is impressive; players have the option to pick one of the following:

• Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better
• Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Regular
• Pot-Limit Hold'em
• Pot-Limit Omaha
• Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

• Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Limit
• 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw
• Pot-Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw
• A-5 Lowball Triple Draw
• Badugi
• Badeucy
• Badacy
• No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw
• No-Limit Five-Card Draw High

Players start out with 7,500 in chips with levels of 60 minutes. Ten levels are scheduled for the first day of play, with the event closing up over the course of three days total. Late registration remains open for the first eight levels, which should be around midnight. A single re-entry per player is allowed according to the structure sheet (PDF).
