According to the WPT live updates, McLaughlin won a large portion of his chips during a hand that resulted in a bit of an issue. The board read 9?7?6? and McLaughlin held the 6?6? for a flopped set. Alexander Lahkov check-called a bet of 15,200 from McLaughlin holding the K?Q? and the turn brought the K?. Lahkov checked once again and McLaughlin fired 35,400. Lahkov replied by announcing an all-in bet and McLaughlin called, tabling his sixes to show that Lahkov was drawing dead. This caused Lahkov to push his chips forward with enough force to knock them into a short-stack player's area. This caused a momentary mix up, but all was sorted out in the end.
Scott finished the day as second in chips, and along her path to success was involved in many key hands. One such hand occurred about halfway through day, as Roberto Romanello opened a pot to 2,500 at 600/1,200/200. Scott three-bet to 5,800 and Andreas Panayides four-bet shipped all in for 21,000 from the cutoff. Romanello folded and Scott announced a call.
Scott: J?J?
Panayides: A?Q?
The board came down 5?4?3?9?10? and Scott's jacks were able to hold as the best hand. Panayides was sent to the rail and Scott picked up the pot.
Later in the day, at 1,000/2,000/300, Micha Hoedemaker and Scott found each other in a raising war after a flop of Q?9?4?. Eventually, Scott found herself all in for 164,000 and tabled the K?J? for a flopped flush. Hoedemaker showed the 9?9? for middle set and failed to improve on the turn (2?) or the river (J?). Scott dragged in the pot and sat as one of the chip leaders for the rest of the day.
Other players who were not as fortunate to make it through the day include Jonathan Duhamel, Ana Marquez, Fabrice Soulier, Will "The Thrill" Failla, Liv Boeree, Tim Reilly, Sylvain Loosli, and many more.
Play will resume for Day 3 at 2 p.m. local time on Thursday. As always, PokerNews will have a recap of the day's events posted once play concludes.
