GPI Player of the Year: Paul Volpe Still Leads; Steven Silverman and David Peters Climb
Paul Volpe remained comfortably seated atop at the Global Poker Index Player of the Year standings again this week. Despite having just one cash last week �� a 554th place finish in Event #6: $1,500 ��Millionaire Maker�� �� he held on to the No. 1 spot.
There were several changes in the top 10 this week. Steven Silverman is now ranked No. 2, and Igor Kurganov moved up four spots to No. 4. Steve O��Dwyer also jumped up four spots and sits in No. 7.
Meanwhile, Ole Schemion dropped down one spot to No. 3 event though he finished 35th in the International Stadiums Poker Tour Main Event.

Team Ivey member David Peters made one of the biggest leaps in the POY race, catapulting into eighth place, up 151 spots from the previous week. Peters found his way into the Top 10 after cashing in four events during the World Series of Poker, including one final table finish.
In the second event of the series, Peters finished in eighth place in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold��em 8-Handed event. Just a few days later, he took 46th place in the $1,000 No-Limit Hold��em event, followed by a 41st place finish two days later in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold��em Six-Handed event. He then secured another small cash in the Event #17, a $1,500 No-Limit Hold��em event.
Also making a jump this week, German pro Philipp Gruissem scored a $221,427 prize for finishing third in the Asia Millions HK$ 250,000 Warm Up in Macau and now sits at No. 13.
Both Scott Seiver (No. 9) and Daniel Negreanu (No. 10) will teeter on the edge of the Top 10 this week. Both down three spots from last week, even though Negreanu finished 12th in Event #5 $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo, and Seiver snagged 33rd in Event No. 3 $1,000 No-Limit Hold��em. Both players are at risk of dropping out of the Top 10 of the POY next week.
Jason Mercier also continues to drop further down the POY rankings. Before the WSOP, he slid to the No. 15 spot and has since fallen to No. 21.
