The high-stakes action was steady during midweek. Both Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars have had their fair share of action. The former saw "cadillac1944" make his first appearance of the year while the latter hosted a pretty wild six-handed $100/$200 pot-limit Omaha game featuring Phil MrSweets28 Galfond and Scott urnotindangr Palmer, among others. By Thursdays end, it was Alexey NoPasaran Makarov who emerged as the midweeks biggest winner with $372,694 in profit won on Full Tilt in just 392 hands (not to mention his $107,876 over 2,444 hands on PokerStars under "LuckyGump").

Cadillac1944 is Back

Wednesday saw the return of two notable, albeit mysterious, high-stakes players in "martonas" and "cadillac1944." Both were in action on Full Tilt Poker, with the latter taking on Alexey NoPasaran Makarov at the heads-up $200/$400 and $300/$600 PLO tables. Unfortunately for cadillac1944, his 2011 debut was not too great as he dropped around $400,000 to the Russian.

In one of their biggest hands, cadillac1944 ($85,998.50) was on the button and raised to $1,200 only to have Makarov ($139,946), reraise to $3,600 from the big blind. After a call, the flop came down 5?K?9? and Makarov checked. Cadillac1944 took the opportunity to bet $7,200, Makarov check-raised to $28,800, and cadillac1944 moved all in for a total of $82,398.50. Makarov called and the cards were turned up.

Cadillac1944: A?J?5?9?
Makarov: A?J?9?2?

Makarov had flopped a pair with the nut-flush draw while cadillac1944 held bottom two pair. The turn and river were run twice, with the first run coming down the 8? and 2?. Makarov had hit his flush and locked up at least half the pot. On the second run, the 3? hit the turn, offering Makarov a gut-shot wheel draw in addition to his plethora of outs. Wouldnt you know it, the river was the 4? and gave him the said wheel. Ship the entire $171,996 pot to Makarov.

Three-way All-in PLO Pot Won by compris

Late Wednesday night and into the morning hours of Thursday, PokerStars played host to an action-packed six-handed $100/$200 PLO game with some heavy hitters including Phil MrSweets28 Galfond, Scott urnotindangr Palmer, "Zypherin," and Alexey LuckyGump Makarov, the aforementioned "NoPasaran" on Full Tilt.

While these were some of the notables at the table, it was "compris" who banked the biggest profit, taking in $460,000 in around 2,000 hands. In one of those hands, Makarov ($27,195) raised to $500 under the gun, Zypherin ($21,595) called, and Palmer ($85,321) reraised to $2,300 on the button. Compris ($49,875) called from the big blind and Makarov pushed to the tune of $10,300. Zypherin got out of the way, Palmer called, and this time compris put in a raise to $41,900. Makarov called off his stack and Palmer called, leading to a A?10?5? flop. Compris immediately moved all in for his last $7,975 and Palmer called.

compris: A?10?K?9?
Palmer: 3?5?4?6?
Makarov: K?7?A?J?

Compris was ahead with top two pair but there were two cards to come. The 6? on the turn kept compris in the lead, and it was the A? on the river that gave him a full house and the $127,540 pot.

Same Game, Different Result

In the same game as above, the same lineup was competing with the exception of "Deldar182" in place of compris. In one notable hand, Phil MrSweets28 Galfond ($53,981) raised to $600 under the gun, Deldar182 called on the button, and Zypherin popped it to $2,000 from the big blind. After two calls, the flop fell 7?9?6?, leading Deldar182 to moved all in for $6,000 after action checked to him. Zypherin made the call but quickly faced a check-raise to $14,400 from Galfond. Zypherin called and the 8? was put out on the turn.

At this point, Zypherin led out for $40,895 and Galfond called off his remaining $37,581, which led to the K? on the river.

Seldar182: 9?10?10?7?
Galfond: 10?4?8?Q?
Zypherin: J?7?10?9?

Zypherin had turned the nut straight and it was good enough to take down the $116,057 pot.
