Railbird Report: Another Monster Week for Linus 'LLinusLLove' Loeliger
Switzerland's Linus "LLinusLLove" Loeliger has had a monster year by anyone's standards with the best results in high-stakes cash games at PokerStars for the year with a total profit thus far of $699,973.
To put this in perspective, the almost $700,000 plus represents more profit than the next two most profitable players combined with United Kingdom's James "JayP-AA" Park notching $316,630 in profit this year followed by Russia's Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn with $291,585 in profit.
Consistency has been the name of the game for Loeliger, who keeps piling up big weeks at the nosebleed no-limit hold'em tables without ending too many in the loss column. This past week was a special one for Loeliger as he piled up a six-digit profit of $123,182. The next four on the list, Jordi "prot0" Urlings ($38,245), "tuff_shark" ($35,185), Sami "Lrslzk" Kelopuro ($33,285), and "PINGUWARRIOR" ($31,284) had much smaller weeks.
Most of the biggest big pots this week involved other players and took place at the pot-limit Omaha tables. Loeliger was involved in one of the top seven biggest pots this week when on April 10, with the stakes at $200/$400, he five-bet jammed for nearly $40,000 with A?4? and got called by "zerfer03" with 10?10?. The duo chopped the massive $80,195 pot after they agreed to run it twice with each player winning one board.
With that pot not being a deciding factor in Loeliger's week, it was a matter of consistency and volume that propelled him to the top of the charts with 4,174 hands played. Only "BERRI SWEET" and Ben "Sauce" Sulsky, who were epically battling it out all week long heads up, were close in volume with 3,354 hands played each.
This doesn't mean that Loeliger wasn't on the winning end of any big pots. Oddly enough, however, he won his biggest pot playing at a six-max $50/$100 table on April 10 despite him playing at much higher stakes at other times during the week and even on the same day.
Linus "LLinusLLove" Loeliger wins a $26,254 Pot (263 Big Blinds) from "huang33"
($50/$100 NLHE 6-Max)
Loeliger opened to $213 from the cutoff. "Huang33" three-bet to $917 from the big blind and Loeliger called.
"Huang" then three-barrel bluffed all three streets and Loeliger called him down each step of the way. "huang33" first fired out for $837 on the K?A?2? flop before betting another $2,689 when the 9? appeared on the turn.
The K? paired the board on the river and "huang33" jammed for an almost pot-sized bet of $8,635. Loeliger called and collected a huge pot worth $26,254 holding a monster full-house with A?K? while "huang33" was felted after his unsuccessful bluff with just 7?5? for seven-high.
Catching Up on High Stakes Action: Three Biggest Pots of The Week
While Loeliger was the biggest winner last week, he was not involved in any of the top six biggest pots. Outside the biggest pot of the week, the next five biggest ones took place over the course of multiple days in heads-up pot-limit Omaha battles between "BERRI SWEET" and Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky.
1) Rui "PepperoniF" Cao wins a $103,520 Pot (518 Big Blinds) from Sami "Lrslzk" Kelopuro (April 8)
($100/$200 PLO 6-Max)
The action began in the only six-figure pot of the week at PokerStars with Sami "Lrslzk" Kelopuro opening the button in heads-up play to $680 before he called a three-bet of $2,120 by Rui "PepperoniF" Cao.
Kelopuro bet $3,454 after Cao checked the 10?2?9? flop. Cao raised to $14,678 and Kelopuro called. Cao then fired out an almost pot-sized bet of $33,673 after the 3? appeared on the turn. Kelopuro, with just a little more behind, pushed all in for $34,922 and Cao called.
Player | Hand | Equity on 10?2?9?3? |
---|---|---|
Rui "PepperoniF" Cao | 8?7?9?9? | 77.50% |
Sami "Lrslzk" Kelopuro | 2?K?3?K? | 22.50% |
Cao had more than a 3:1 advantage over his opponent with top set and the duo decided to run it twice. Cao won both boards and the biggest pot of the week of $103,520 after the Q? on the first river and the 4? on the second river was unable to improve Kelopuro's hand.
2) "BERRI SWEET" wins a $96,539 Pot (483 Big Blinds) from Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky (April 9)
($100/$200 PLO 6-Max)
Sulsky and "BERRI SWEET" were battling throughout the week in a back and forth. "BERRI SWEET" won the biggest pots in their match-up and ended the week with a low five-figure profit while Sulsky won the next biggest pot and ended the week with a small five-figure loss.
In the second biggest hand of the week and the biggest in the heads-up match between this duo, "BERRI SWEET" opened the button for $600 and called a three-bet from Sulsky to $1,800.
Sulsky led for $1,886 after the flop came 4?9?J? and called a raise from his opponent to $6,471.
The 9? paired the board on the turn and "BERRI SWEET" then fired out for $8,270 after the action was checked to him. Sulsky then check-jammed for $39,999 and "BERRI SWEET" who had him covered, called the bet.
Player | Hand | Equity on 4?9?J?9? |
---|---|---|
"BERRI SWEET" | 7?5?J?J? | 97.50% |
Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky | K?10?Q?9? | 2.50% |
Despite Sulsky having a strong hand at this point with trip-nines and straight and boat outs, he was a significant underdog with only the 9? able to save his hand. The duo ran it twice and the $96,539 pot went to "BERRI SWEET" after the 10? fell on the first river followed by the 6? completing the second board.
2) Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky wins a $88,399 Pot (442 Big Blinds) from "BERRI SWEET" (April 10)
($100/$200 PLO 6-Max)
The next two biggest pots also involved "BERRI SWEET" and Sulsky with the duo chopping both hands. Sulsky was able to get some revenge on his opponent on the third biggest pot of the week that didn't involve a chop.
In similar fashion to the last hand, "BERRI SWEET" opened the button and called a three-bet from Sulsky to $1,800.
Sulsky led out for $2,087 after the flop came 5?K?J? and his opponent called. Sulsky then check-raised a bet from "BERRI SWEET" from $2,331 to $11,957 after the 7? appeared on the turn.
"BERRI SWEET" called and the Q? completed the board on the river. Sulsky then fired out enough to cover his opponent's $28,356 and "BERRI SWEET" called. Sulsky turned over 9?10?K?A? for the nut flush which was good against the set held by "BERRI SWEET" with 4?J?8?J? to win a massive pot worth $88,399.

The 2018 Leaderboard
With another huge winning week, Linus "LLinusLLove" Loeliger extended his lead on the 2018 leaderboard while James "JayP-AA" Park remained in second place and Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn remained third despite neither player engaging in a single hand last week.
The bottom three spots on the leaderboard had some shakeup. Once again, "ImagineKing" padded his losses for another week and has a firm hold on the biggest loss of the year. Viktor "isildur1" Blom remained second to last on very small volume.
Meanwhile, Jonas "OtB_RedBaron" Mols lost enough at the tables last week to propel him into the third to last spot past Elior "Crazy Elior" Sion who sat on the sidelines the entire week.
