Great First Hand

Level 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Hans Olymp may have lucked into more than a double up on his first hand of the WSOPE Main Event.

The preflop action was described by Allen Kessler. A player in middle position opened to 5,250 by accident. He said he meant to make it 1,250 but tossed out a 5,000 instead of a 1,000. That sparked a series of calls. Amazingly three players called. Olymp was the first a few spots behind the opener. Then the players on the button and in the small blind called.

Petr Subik was in the big blind and he raised to 17,000. Olymp was the lone caller.

The flop came queen high rainbow and Subik check-called a shove from Olymp for just about 33,000. Subik had pocket jacks and Olymp had ace-queen. He stayed ahead to win the pot and more than double his stack on the first hand of his WSOPE Main Event.
