Verbakel, Urban Top Day 1b of Little One for One Drop, Kassouf Advances
After almost 14 levels of play, Day 1b of Event #8: €1,111 Little One for One Drop is done. 564 players showed up the second starting day for the event, which supports ONE DROP, an organization that helps provide access to clean water around the world. €50 of each buy-in went to the charity and combined with yesterday's total of 304, this event has raised at least €43,400 for ONE DROP.
92 players survived the second of two starting days, with Remco Verbakel bagging the end-of-day chip lead with 410.500. The Belgian was the only player to surpass the 400k mark during the second starting day. Verbakel has just a little over $13,000 in recorded live earnings, with his biggest cash to date being €3,361, made in a flight of THE COLOSSUS several days ago.
One of the best Slovakian players around, David Urban, ended the day in second place and bagged 378,000. Urban already has over $700,000 in lifetime earnings and is looking to add a substantial figure to that. The infamous Will Kassouf also advanced to Day 2 and bagged a healthy stack of 163,500. The British motormouth used mostly friendly banter throughout the day and the majority of his tablemates seemingly enjoyed this more lighthearted side of Kassouf. Another notable to make it through was WSOPE bracelet winner Andreas Klatt, who finished the day with 100,500 in chips.
With unlimited reentries allowed in the first eight levels, players who ran out of chips were able to buy themselves right back in as they pleased. WSOP Player of the Year frontrunner Chris Ferguson, who won his sixth gold WSOP bracelet yesterday, was one of those players who fired multiple bullets but to no avail. Ferguson found himself in good company on the rail, as Maria Ho, Tobias Peters, Oleksandr Shcherbak, Viliyan Petleshkov, Sander van Wesemael, Roberto Romanello and John Racener all failed to make it through the day.
The 92 who survived Day 1b will join up with the 51 who got through Day 1a and come back on Friday, November 3rd, at 1 p.m. local time to play Day 2. Day 1a chipleader Serghei Lisiy will start as the overall chipleader with 463,000 in chips. The tournament will resume in level 15, with blinds at 2,000/4,000 and a running ante of 500. Levels will be extended to 60 minutes and play will continue until the final table has been reached. The total prize pool and all payouts will be announced at the start of Day 2.
Besides the Little One for One Drop, the High Roller for One Drop, with a buy-in of €111,111, will also kick off tomorrow and start at 2 p.m. With 104 players already confirmed for this flagship event, it's going to be an exciting day in King's Casino in Rozvadov. Be sure to check back regularly to PokerNews and don't miss any of the WSOPE action.
