Mercier Takes a Huge Hit

Jason Mercier is down but not out
Jason Mercier is down but not out

Konstantin Uspenskiy raised from early position and Jason Mercier decided to defend his big bling. The flop rained down {K-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {2-Spades} and Mercier made a very small check-raise and Uspenskiy called. The turn was the {10-Hearts} and both players checked before we saw the action card of {9-Diamonds}. Mercier bet 34,000 and Uspenskiy moved all-in for 136,000. Mercier took his time before eventually making the call and mucked his hand when he saw the nuts in the hand of Uspenskiy.

Uspenskiy{K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}

Mercier was down to 75000 but Uspenskiy, who has played fantastic all day, now has second place.
