Gould Struggles, Then Busts

Josh Gould is one of those unfortunates who have found themselves woefully short and attempting to double up or bust out before play stops for the night in half an hour.

A flop was dealt; it was {A-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}. Gould checked, Sorel Mizzi checked, and David Williams bet 2,000. Gould instantly raised pot, leaving himself 11,000 behind. Mizzi got out of there, and Williams paused. "I need a spin up," explained Gould. A moment later, Williams pulled a face as though his cards had broken wind under his nose, and passed his hand back to the dealer.

A few hands later, though, with mere shrapnel left and a complete unwillingness to come back tomorrow without a playable stack, Gould got his chips in and they never came back out again.
