Hastings Knocks One Out

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

A player in middle position raised it up to 1,500, and the next player to act called. Brian Hastings was right after them, and he three-bet it to 5,300. Only the original raiser called that bet, and they went heads up to a flop of {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Hastings's opponent fired out 6,000, Hastings called, and the {8-Spades} hit the turn. His opponent didn't slow down, shoving all in for about 21,000.

Hastings didn't have his opponent covered by much, and he spent a couple of minutes in the tank before he called.

Hastings: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Opponent: {K-Spades}{4-Spades}

Hastings was ahead, but he still had to dodge a spade on the river. He did that, unnecessarily improving to trips with the {A-Clubs}, and he scooped a nice pot to jump up to 76,000.
