Smith Doubles Through Katz

Level 17 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Dan Smith (from a previous event)
Dan Smith (from a previous event)

Dan Smith limped under the gun, and Aaron Katz got a look at Smith's stack. Katz raised to 25,000 on the button, the small blind folded, Brant Hale called in the big blind, and Smith potted it to 106,000. Katz called, and Hale folded.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}, and Smith bet the pot. Katz was shielding his eyes from the flop and asked the dealer if there was an ace on the flop. The dealer told him there was not, and Katz took a look for himself. He then called rather quickly, and they showed down.

Smith: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
Katz: {8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

Katz had a pair of fives and an open-ended straight draw. Smith's aces were ahead, and he improved to top set on the {A-Spades} turn. The {9-Clubs} river did not bail Katz out, and Smith got the double-up.
