Demers Busts In Biggest Pot of the Tournament So Far

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Michail Karapanos defended his big blind against a raise by Gionni Demers and check-raised the {Q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop from 30,000 to 80,000. Demers called before Karapanos check-called a big bet on the {4-Clubs} turn.

The {7-Clubs} river completed the board and Karapanos checked. Demers moved all in and Karapanos asked for a count. The shove of Demers was for 288,000 and Karapanos then verified the size of the pot until the river with the dealer, which was 492,000 in total.

After a minute of consideration, Karapanos called and Demers turned over {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Spades} for just a pair of nines. Karapanos claimed the pot with {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for the five-high straight and skyrocketed his stack to more than 1.1 million
