Reeves & Stratmeyer Bubble the Main Event

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Marcelo Tadeu Aziz Junior opened the hijack and was three-bet by Lucas Reeves in the small blind to 80,000. Junior then four-bet to 195,000 before Reeves five-bet to 380,000. The action wasn't over yet as a six-bet came in from Junior to 565,000, then Reeves seven-bet shoved for around 950,000 total. Junior quickly called.

Lucas Reeves: K?K? All in
Marcelo Tadeu Aziz Junior: A?A?

As the camera crews and media team arrived to the table, the dealer was given permission to run the board.

Reeves was looking for a king to survive but the runout of 6?7?J?Q?4? meant he was eliminated on the bubble.

There were five more all-in-and-calls throughout the Horseshoe but one stood out as another player was eliminated.

Terrance Reid opened to 16,000 from middle position and Christian Stratmeyer shoved for 57,000 out of the small blind. Once the big blind folded, Reid made the call which put Stratmeyer at risk.

Christian Stratmeyer: A?K? All in
Terence Reid: 8?3?

Reid certainly had the stack to make the call and it paid off as he flopped trips on the 8?6?8? board which left Stratmeyer needing a miracle to survive.

The 2? on the turn sealed the pot for Reid, with a meaningless 9? river confirming the elimination of Stratmeyer.

As both Reeves and Stratmeyer were eliminated during the same hand, they split a min-cash and will receive $7,500 each for their efforts.

Tkatschew Rivers a Boat to Scoop 1,600,000-Chip Pot

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Alexander Tkatschew

A huge pot was brewing with around 500,000 chips in the middle between Jimmy Gorham and Alexander Tkatschew. The board read Q?10?K?7? and Tkatschew thought about it for a while before making a bet of 250,000, which Gorham called.

On the Q? river, Tkatschew again took his time before he announced a bet of 350,000. Before Tkatschew could even put the chips into the pot, Gorham had made the call.

Tkatschew tabled K?K? for a full house, and Gorham didn't seem happy.

"So sick," remarked Gorham as he tabled A?K? for the nut flush. Gorham started the day with over 1,200,000 in chips but now sits with under 400,000 after that huge pot in the opening level.

Pak Hits Quads to Eliminate Salhab On Soft Bubble

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Budwey Salhab Eliminated by Edward Pak on WSOP Main Event Soft Bubble
Budwey Salhab Eliminated by Edward Pak on WSOP Main Event Soft Bubble

Budwey Salhab raised to 16,000 under the gun and was three-bet by Edward Pak in middle position to 48,000. Salhab called and check-called Pak's continuation-bet of 65,000 on the 10?9?Q? flop.

The turn came the J?, on which Pak upped the ante to 175,000. Salhab then moved in for 341,000, sending Pak into the tank. He asked for a count and tossed in a call after some more thought.

Budwey Salhab: A?K? All in
Edward Pak: J?J?

Salhab was ahead with his straight and nut flush draw, but the J? river brought a fourth jack for Pak to win the pot and bust out Salhab.

"Fuck you, dude," an obviously unhappy Salhab said to Pak. "That was the worst call in history."

"I had a straight flush draw," Pak defended himself as he raked in the pot.

Lonis Shows Bluff After Taking Big Pot From Lybaert

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Jesse Lonis

Bart Lybaert opened to 16,000 from the hijack. Asko Muratovic called in the small blind. Jesse Lonis was in the big blind and three-bet to 98,000. Lybaert called and Muratovic got out of the way.

The flop came 9?6?10?. Lonis continued for 133,000, Lybaert raised to 283,000. Lonis took his time to think as a crowd started to gather around to watch the hand unfold as Lonis then put in a three-bet to 450,000. Lybaert took about a minute before he called to swell the pot to well over a million.

The turn came 6?. Lonis moved all in. The many cameras around filmed as Lybaert went into the tank. After about 90 seconds he folded.

Lonis tabled the A?5? to show everyone the bluff as he raked in the massive early pot.

To the Bubble and Way Beyond on Day 4 of the 2024 WSOP Main Event

Francis Anderson among the big stacks for Day 4
Francis Anderson among the big stacks for Day 4

The record-breaking 2024 World Series of Poker $10,000 Main Event will return near the money bubble for Day 4, as just 1,529 players remain out of a field of 10,112 entries. Late on Day 3, the paid places were all but reached at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas and just twelve more eliminations are required to ensure a piece of the $94,041,600 prize pool for all returning hopefuls.

Leading the way to the tense bubble period as of noon local time is Spanish poker pro Francisco Perez Moreno, who bagged up an impressive 2,187,000. He is followed by Justin Datloff (1,819,000) and 2019 third-place finisher Alex Livingston (1,808,000). Several other big names can be found in the overnight top ten such as Matt Stout (1,670,000), 2024 WSOP bracelet winner Francis Anderson (1,655,000), and Ren Lin (1,570,000) who all have more than or slightly less than 200 big blinds at their disposal.

Plenty of other notables have big stacks to un-bag such as Will Failla (1,390,000), Alex Keating (1,376,000), Isaac Kempton (1,319,000), Nacho Barbero (1,289,000), Jans Arends (1,189,000), Adam Friedman (1,171,000), and Naoya Kihara (1,020,000). In total, 73 players return with seven-figure stack sizes while $25k Fantasy Draft pick Danny Tang is only one pot away from the same feat with 980,000 to his name.

Six former WSOP Main Event winners are still in contention, but it is 2019 WSOP Europe Main Event champion Alexandros Kolonias who leads the way with 1,310,000. Koray Aldemir (443,000) and Joe McKeehen (420,000) are separated by three big blinds only and they are joined on Day 4 by Scott Blumstein (299,000), Robert Varkonyi (280,000), Espen Jorstad (136,000) and defending champion Daniel Weinman (82,000).

Weinman returns with only ten big blinds to try and make the money and the WSOP Hall of Famers Erik Seidel (78,000) and Daniel Negreanu (74,000) find themselves in the same boat as well.

All remaining players will return to their seats in the Horseshoe Grand Ballroom at noon local time and the opening stages will be dominated by the tense money bubble with the min-cash of $15,000 in sight. A total of five two-hour levels are scheduled for today, with a 20-minute break after every level and an extended dinner break after the end of the third level. The action resumes in Level 16 with blinds of 4,000/8,000 with an 8,000 big blind ante.

Stay tuned right here on PokerNews to find out who reaches the money and whose dreams will be shattered in the record-breaking 2024 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas.
