Big Dreams Continue in $1,000 Mini Main Event

Day 1 saw a total of 6,076 players take their seats at the 2024 World Series of Poker, all looking to make a big run in Event #78: $1,000 Mini Main Event No-Limit Hold'em. After 22 levels of play, just 486 found a bag for Day 2 at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, where another full day of action is on tap in this exciting event.

India's Paawan Bansal set the pace on the opening day, stacking up 2,825,000 chips to lead the way. Four other contenders joined Bansal above the 2,500,000 mark, including Jamie Dwan (2,700,000), James Carroll (2,700,000) and Connor Rash (2,505,000) as they return for the second of three days at 11 a.m. local time.

The massive registration number far surpassed the total from last year and generated a prize pool of $5,346,880. Each returning player is guaranteed at least $2,257, with all eyes on the top prize of $555,075 and the WSOP gold bracelet.

Some of the notable names still in contention heading into Day 2 include David Kaye (1,945,000), Landon Tice (965,000), Ryan Hughes (915,000) and Chanracy Khun (370,000).

Action is set to resume at 11 a.m. local time on Level 23, where players will see blinds of 20,000/40,000 and a 40,000 big blind ante. Levels will continue to be 30 minutes in length, with 15-minute breaks after every four levels and a dinner break after Level 34. Play is scheduled to continue until just five players remain in contention for the $1,000 Mini Main Event title.
