Phil Hellmuth Coolered Out of WSOP Main Event by Nicholas "Dirty Diaper" Rigby

Phil Hellmuth will not be the winner of the 2023 Word Series of Poker Main Event as the all-time leading bracelet winner was eliminated around an hour ago on Day 2d.

The player to send 'The Poker Brat' to the rail was Nicholas "Dirty Diaper" Rigby, who rose to fame in the poker community in the 2021 Main Event after getting into the mix several times with 3x2x.

Hellmuth, who won the Main Event in 1989, has failed to make the money in poker's crown jewel tournament for the last eight years. His last Main Event cash came in 2015, where he finished in 417th for $21,786.

Maurice Hawkins and Brandon Mincher were both in the upper echelons of the chip counts when they tangled in a pot worth over 150,000 chips by the turn. The board read 10?9?5?9? and Hawkins made a bet of 67,000 from the hijack. Mincher was on the button and made the call.

The river fell the 2? and Hawkins instantly made a bet of 175,000, enough to put Mincher all-in.

"I need a second guys," Mincher said as he mulled over this predicament.

Eventually, he made the fold and Hawkins increased his chip lead in the Red section even further.

While Glaser was nursing a short stack for most of the day, the start of level nine saw his chips fluctuate up and down until ultimately his main event journey came to an end. With all the money in the middle preflop against opponent Dirk Perdrix, Glaser was at risk.

With around 30,000 in the pot on a flop of K?6?8?, a player on the button bet 12,000 and Tom Dwan called from the big blind.

Both players checked the 4? turn before the 2? fell on the river. Dwan then led out with 40,000.

His opponent took out his earphones and began wiggling around in his seat as he considered the decision, eventually leaning over the table to get a good look at the board. He called after several minutes and Dwan turned over K?K? for top set.

"That will do," someone yelled out from the rail as Dwan raked in another big pot.

Kornuth Plays His Favorite Hand

A player just arrived on the table and opened from middle position. Ronald Cleaver and Chance Kornuth called from the blinds and the three of them saw a flop of 5?2?6? with 12,000 chips in the middle.

Cleaver checked but Kornuth decided to lead out for 3,000 chips. The player in middle position called and Cleaver got out of the way. The 5? fell on the turn and both players checked.

The Q? then completed the board and Kornuth took another stab at it, betting 4,500 this time. A quick call followed from his opponent and Kornuth tabled 9?5? for turned trips.

"Just trips huh?" the fresh player quipped. "Not a very warm welcome."

"It's one of my favorite hands!" Kornuth defended himself.
