Day 1d, the final starting flight of Event #76: $10,000 WSOP Main Event No-Limit Hold’em World Championship, begins at 12 p.m. local time. Players will be spread throughout the Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas for the largest poker tournament at the 2023 World Series Of Poker.
Day 1a saw a total of 1,039 entrants come out to play, which saw the subsequent flights of Day 1b and Day 1c collect up 1,118 and 3,080, respectively. This brings the total number of entrants in this main event to 5,217, meaning that the field is 3,537 away from becoming the biggest main event of all time. The players in this flight who survive five levels will return on Saturday, July 8, for Day 2d. Registration is open for seven levels which means players can register through the first two levels on Day 2 as well.
Leading the way on Day 1c is English bracelet winner Christopher Brammer, who ended his day with 386,100. Brammer’s lead in his flight is fairly significant and he looks to secure his fourth WSOP Main Event cash. Brammer falls just short of the overall tournament lead as Yehuda Dayan from Day 1a still sits with the overall tournament lead of 389,900.
Other notable players who found big bags in yesterday's flight include Michael Banducci (292,600), Adrian Buckley (245,000), Josh Arieh (181,000), Wesley Cannon (179,800), Michael Wang (171,800), and Brian “TheGoldenBlazer” Frenzel (170,800).
On the other end of the spectrum, Hall of Famer Daniel Negreanu bagged a mere 25,900, but will be advancing to Day 2abc on Friday. His stack will still be a very playable 32 big blinds on Day 2.
Players begin with 60,000 chips and each of the opening flights will play five 120-minute levels before the remaining players bag up. Breaks are scheduled after each level and a 75-minute dinner break will be taken after Level 3.
