Mather Survives the Bubble in Roller Coaster Hand
Action was stalled during hand-for-hand play and once the dealer got the ok to run the cards out, Bob Mather was all-in on the button for 83,000 against a player in the small blind who announced that there would be a seven on the flop.
The floor then instructed the players to reveal their cards.
Bob Mather: A?A?
Small Blind Player: 7?7?
A seven was indeed needed in order to bust the bubble and the premonition would be fulfilled, as the dealer produced the 7? in the door on a 10?3?7? flop, eliciting an eruption from the room.
However, the player in the small blind could apparently only see so far into the future as the A? fell on the turn, launching Mather back into the lead and resulting in another burst of hollers from the field of players.
Mather would lock in the win on the 2? river, and get the double. Surviving to see another hand.
