Thomas Taylor Eliminated in 9th Place ($24,891)

Level 29 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Thomas Taylor
Thomas Taylor

Gheorghe Butuc raised from under the gun and when it folded around to the short stacked Thomas Taylor, he went all in for his remaining 800,000 in chips. It folded back around to Butuc and he called.

Thomas Taylor: K?Q?10?10?
Gheorghe Butuc: A?A?8?5?

The flop dashed Taylor's hopes as it came 5?A?6?, his only chance was running Broadway cards and they couldn't be a diamond. Stephen Nahm chimed in, "Not even a sweat! Doink!" as he'd already had a couple beers.

The turn was the 2? and the river bricked the 7?, awarding the pot to Butuc.

There were plenty of times the last few days where it felt like a rowdy party, but Taylor was always all business; focused and determined.

England Earns the Double

Level 29 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Dan Matsuzuki opened to 300,000 before Jonathan England moved all in for his final 560,000. Amir Mirrasouli then announced pot and Matsuzuki got out of the way.

Jonathan England: K?Q?Q?10?
Amir Mirrasouli: A?A?J?5?

England was looking for help and found a set on the 4?Q?7? flop. The 3? turn brought Mirrasouli a straight draw, but the 5? river left England ahead for good. "Thank you JSP" he said, raking in the double-up.

Dan Matsuzuki

Thomas Taylor opened to 200,000 and found a call from Dan Matsuzuki in the big blind.

Matsuzuki led out on the 7?4?9? flop with Taylor calling to see the 2? turn. Matsuzuki fired again for 650,000, with Taylor calling to the 7? river.

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Mike Gorodinsky
Mike Gorodinsky

Mike Gorodinsky moved his short stack all in and was at risk against chip leader Stephen Nahm.

Mike Gorodinsky: 7?5?2?2?
Stephen Nahm: A?K?8?4?

Nahm immediately jumped out in front after the A?3?10? flop, while the J? turn and 5? river were no help for Gorodinsky. His tournament run came to an end in tenth place, as the players combined to the final table of nine.

Paul Clotar

Paul Clotar went all in against the open of Ronald Keijzer. It folded back around to Keijzer and he made the call.

Paul Clotar: A?7?K?6?
Ronald Keijzer: Q?J?8?2?

The flop spread 6?10?Q?, pulling Keijzer into the lead with a pair of queens. The turn was the inconsequential 2? and when the 3? fell on the river, the familiar shout for payouts followed.

Thomas Zanot Eliminated in 12th Place ($15,700)

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Thomas Zanot
Thomas Zanot

Dan Matsuzuki raised on the button to 275,000 and was jammed on by the small blind, Thomas Zanot, for 800,000. Matsuzuk quickly made the call and cards were on their backs.

Thomas Zanot: A?Q?9?9?
Dan Matsuzuki: A?A?9?4?

The flop fanned out 5?6?4? and when the 3? fell on the turn, so did Zanot's hopes in making the final table. He remained good natured and was heard multiple times throughout the tournament saying how fun PLO tournaments are here at the WSOP.

Matsuzuki was dealt aces three out of the first four hands he played and eliminated two players with them. To say he's off to a hot start would be an understatement.

Man of the People: How Daniel Negreanu Bagged Top 4 Stack on $300 Gladiator Day 1a

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

When it comes to the World Series of Poker (WSOP), six-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu is typically found in bigger buy-in events. He’s among poker’s elite often competing for $25K Fantasy and Player of the Year points, and buy-ins in excess of $10,000 give him the best chance at both, not to mention his first bracelet since 2013.

For instance, he finished 22nd in Event #2: $25,000 High Roller Six-Handed NLH for $50,000, though he failed to bag Day 1 of Event #23: $50,000 High Roller (8-Handed) after firing two bullets.

However, on Wednesday after busting early on Day 2 of Event #16: $25,000 High Roller, “Kid Poker” opted to become a man of the people by hopping into Day 1a of Event #18: $300 Gladiators of Poker, which boasted a $3 million guarantee.
