Simon Puts Matte to the Test

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

On a completed board of {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} Scott Matte was faced with a large bet from his opponent Wes Simon. The bet was 100,000 into the already sizable pot of 132,000 and Matte's tournament life was on the line.

After considerable time in the tank, Matte finally made the call and heard those sweet sweet words from Simon...

"Nice call," he said as he turned over {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for one pair and straight blockers.

Matte then proudly turned over {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for just one pair of aces to take down the substantial pot for a full double up.
