Three Quarters for Cates Against Dzivielevski

Level 24 : 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Dan Cates made it three bets out of the small blind with the {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} and Yuri Dzivielevski called with the {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} on the button. Cates bet the {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop and the {7-Diamonds} turn before he check-called the {6-Clubs} river.

Both tabled the nut low and Cates won three quarters of the pot with his ace-king high as Dzivielevski only had ace-queen high. After the hand was over, the rotation changed to Razz.

Dzivielevski Loses Some in Omaha Hi-Lo

Level 24 : 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Yuri Dzivielevski lost a pot when he paid off Naoya Kihara with {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts} on the river of a {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} board and was shown the {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

He then bet the {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop with the {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades} out of the small blind and Dan Cates called in the big blind with {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Another bet each went in after the {k-Hearts} turn and Dzivielevski check-folded the {6-Clubs} river to save himself one bet as he would have gotten scooped.

Dzivielevski Scoops Cates

Level 24 : 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

The live stream moved back from an update in the Ladies Event and showed a {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{k-Spades} turn on which Yuri Dzivielevski bet with the {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a pair, gutshot and flush draw. Dan Cates called with the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades} and then sigh-called on the {7-Hearts} river when Dzivielevski bet again for the Brazilian to scoop the entire pot.

Kihara Takes a Pot Against Cates

Level 24 : 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

No major action at all took place during the entire Seven Card Stud orbit and just one hand went to fourth street. Once it changed to Omaha Hi-Lo, Naoya Kihara three-bet preflop with the {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Dan Cates called on the button with the {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}.

Kihara bet the {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop to receive a call and did so again on the {9-Clubs} turn, on which Cates made two pair but just called. On the {j-Diamonds} river, Kihara bet again and Cates quickly folded.

Kihara Gets a Shove Through

Level 24 : 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Yuri Dzivielevski raised out of the small blind with the {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and was called by Dan Cates in the big blind. The {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop was bet by the Brazilian for 125,000 and Cates called. Both checked the {6-Clubs} on the turn and Dzivielevski bet 250,000 into 825,000 on the {q-Clubs} river with the nuts, winning the pot without any further payoff by Cates.

Dzivielevski then raised on the button to 350,000 with the {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and folded when Naoya Kihara pushed for 5,250,000 with the {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} in the big blind. The Japanese player celebrated towards his rail, who had joined after witnessing Shota Nakanishi win the $10,000 Short Deck Championship.

Small Pots in NLHE Increase Cates' Lead

Level 24 : 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

During the last hands of Limit 2-7 Triple Draw, Dan Cates earned three full bets back from Naoya Kihara when he made an eight and Kihara improved to a nine. The game variant then changed to NLHE and Cates raised the button to 400,000 with the {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts} to win the blinds.

Kihara then raised to 500,000 with {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} on the button in the next hand to win some chips back.

Cates limped his next small blind with the {9-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Kihara checked the {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs} in the big blind. The {q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop brought a bet worth 250,000 by Cates and that won the next pot for the chip leader.

Cates Saves One Bet Against Dzivielevski

Level 24 : 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo

Dan Cates: {9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} / {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} / {a-Diamonds}
Yuri Dzivielevski: {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} / {9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Diamonds} / {7-Diamonds}

Dan Cates completed with an ace and was called by Yuri Dzivielevski with split jacks. On fourth street, Cates made open aces and bet for Dzivielevski to call and both players then checked fifth street. After sixth street, Cates bet and Dzivielevski came along with his hidden full house to then see Cates bet again seventh street with he made three aces.

Cates bet again and Dzivielevski carefully counted his stack for a short while before he raised. After vaulting out of his seat and studying his opponent, Cates folded and saved one full bet.
