Neymar Jr. Notches His First-Ever WSOP Cash in Event #41: $1,000 Super Turbo Bounty!

Level 19 : 10,000/20,000, 30,000 ante
Neymar Jr.
Neymar Jr.

A week ago, PokerStars Cultural Ambassador Neymar Jr. made his playing debut at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) when the Paris Saint-Germain's renowned forward entered Event #26: $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship.

He didnt cash that tournament, but now less than a week later the soccer legend has notched his first-ever WSOP cash by finishing in the money in Event #41: $1,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Holdem. In fact, hes still in action as of this writing and you can follow his progress in our live updates here.

Funny story, when the money bubble burst and tournament staff was trying to verify the size of the field, players were asked to remain in their seats and spectators to clear the area. No doubt excited by the prospect of earning his first WSOP cash, Neymar was standing on the rail chatting with a trio of friends which included PokerStars Team Pro Andre Akkari.

A security member, diligent in their duty and unaware that Neymar was in action, strolled up and said, Sorry guys, I gotta kick you out, you cant stay here.

Level 19 : 10,000/20,000, 30,000 ante
Andrew Kelsall
Andrew Kelsall

From early position, Andrew Kelsall moved his last 170,000 into the middle, before Yuri Dzivielevski called next to act. The rest of the players mucked.

Dzivielevski immediately showed Kelsall the bad news, he had {8-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}, so even though Kelsall drew one card, his {8-}{7-}{6-}{2-} was drawing dead.

The insignificant {10-} completed Kelsall's hand and he hit the rail in 8th place, good for $41,011 for the Phillies fan.

Eli Elezra
Eli Elezra

After Scott Seiver raised to 45,000 from early position, Andrew Kelsall called to his direct left, Farzad Bonyadi called from the button and Eli Elezra threw in calling chips from the small blind. Alex Livingston folded his big blind and they went four ways to draw phase.

Elezra took 1, Seiver stood pat, Kelsall took 1 and Bonyadi took 2.

Elezra checked, Seiver checked and Kelsall fired out 125,000. Bonyadi mucked and Elezra called. Seiver got out of the way.

Elezra showed Kelsall the bad news as he held {9-}{8-}{7-}{6-}{2-} which was good enough to ship the pot.
