Mark Dickstein Bags Day 1 Chip Lead of Event #27: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E.; Adam Owen Second
Day 1 of Event #27: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. has been played to completion with Mark Dickstein standing tall as the current chip leader after accumulating 300,000 in chips. Dickstein came close to winning a WSOP bracelet in 2006 when he finished third in a $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event. Now he has a chance for redemption.
Adam Owen lead the tournament in the latter stages of Day 1, but bagged up enough chips for second-place. Owen has two WSOP circuit rings to his name and over $700,000 in WSOP tournament earnings, and is now poised to make a solid run for his first gold bracelet.
The tournament drew a total of 594 players, which generated a $792,990 prize pool. Ninety spots will pay, with a min-cash being worth $2,400 and the eventual winner taking home a cool $160,636 in addition to a WSOP gold bracelet.
Many notables entered and bagged into Day 2 – including Brian Hastings (98,000), David Williams (90,000), Joe Mckeehen (24,500), Chris Vitch (68,000), James Woods (121,000), Allen Kessler (53,000), Norman Chad (91,000), Ari Engel (76,500), Barry Greenstein (148,500), and Phil Hellmuth (74,000), who is in contention to make yet another deep run in his conquest to earn a record-setting 16th gold bracelet.
Some notables who entered but busted before the day's end include Mike Matusow, Shirley Rosario, Rep Porter, Ken Aldridge, Kenna James, Benny Glaser, and Eli Elezra.
The remaining 207 players will return to play Day 2 tomorrow at 2 p.m. Unlike today, the tournament is scheduled for 10 hour-long levels and players will get a 60-minute dinner at the end of level 21 (approximately 8:30 p.m.).
