James Calderaro Eliminated in 4th Place ($414,134)

Level 29 : 100,000/200,000, 0 ante
James Calderaro - 4th Place
James Calderaro - 4th Place

On Hand #58, defending champ James Calderaro raised to 500,000 and Ben Yu called on the button. Shaun Deeb came along from the big blind and three players went to the flop, which came down {2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

Deeb checked, Calderaro bet 1,000,000, and Yu folded. Deeb then woke up with a pot-sized check-raise and Calderaro called off for 3.1 million total.

Deeb: {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}
Calderaro: {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Both players had flopped top two pair and it looked like things were headed for a chop. The {4-Hearts} turn meant Calderaro just needed to dodge a five to at least split the pot, and he could still win it outright with a river king.

The dealer burned and delivered the {5-Spades} on the river. Deeb made a runner-runner straight and sent the defending champ to the rail in fourth place.

Nguyen Doubles Through Deeb

Level 29 : 100,000/200,000, 0 ante
Scotty Nguyen

Shaun Deeb continued to put pressure on his opponents and pulled away further before a four-way pot emerged. Deeb had raised to 400,000 first to act and picked up calls by James Calderaro on the button, Ben Yu in the small blind and Scotty Nguyen in the big blind. The flop of {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs} was checked to Deeb and he bet 750,000. That got rid of Calderaro and Yu, but Nguyen check-raised all in.

Deeb asked for a count and made the call once it was determined to be for 1,620,000 on top of Deeb's bet.

Scotty Nguyen: {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
Shaun Deeb: {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}

The {6-Diamonds} on the turn gave Deeb one more out as he hit the inferior set along with his straight draw, however, the {10-Spades} on the river was a blank to let Nguyen double and jump back into second place.

Yu Wins Small Pot

Level 29 : 100,000/200,000, 0 ante

Shaun Deeb raised to 400,000 from the button and Ben Yu called in the big blind. On a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}, Yu checked and called a bet of 400,000 by Deeb. On the {5-Hearts} turn both checked and there was no betting action on the {K-Spades} either.

Yu flipped over {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for two pair and that won the pot.

One for the Poker Hall of Famer

Level 29 : 100,000/200,000, 0 ante

Scotty Nguyen limped the button and Shaun Deeb checked his option. Both players then checked the {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{a-Spades} flop as well as the {6-Clubs} turn.

When the {10-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Nguyen bet 200,000 and Deeb called. Nguyen tabled the {7-Spades}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for a straight and it was good as Deeb tossed his hand to the muck.

Deeb Takes From Yu

Level 29 : 100,000/200,000, 0 ante

Shaun Deeb raised to 400,000 on the button and Ben Yu called from the big blind. On a flop of {K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, Yu checked and Deeb continued for 400,000, Yu called. The {3-Hearts} appeared on the turn and Yu checked once more. Deeb made it 1,130,000 to go and Yu called.

After the {4-Spades} river, both players checked and Yu showed a king-queen for top pair, which Deeb had crushed with the {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{X-}{2-}.

Shaun Deeb vs. James Calderaro

Level 29 : 100,000/200,000, 0 ante

Shaun Deeb limped the small blind and then called when James Calderaro made it 600,000 to go from the big blind.

Both players proceeded to check it down as the board ran out {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades} and Calderaro showed the {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{q-}{6-} for kings and jacks. It was good as Deeb simply mucked.
