Daniel Negreanu Second in Chips as Day 2 of $10,000 Seven Card Stud Resumes at 2 p.m.
Poker's all-time leading money earner, Daniel Negreanu, will look to add to that record today when Day 2 of Event #38: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship begins at 2 p.m.
The six-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner has already had one close call this summer with a third-place finish in the $1,500 Eight Game Mix. Negreanu is in prime position to make another deep run, looking to improve on his previous best in this event which came all the way back in 2009 when he placed 10th. Negreanu returns with 212,000.
Wielding the chip lead when play resumes is Ben Yu. Yu was among the last players to join the field on Day 1 and quickly climbed the ranks, ending the day with 280,000.
Al Barbieri (208,000), Seiver (202,500), Mark Gregorich (153,000), Jesse Martin (149,000), Robert Mizrachi (142,500) and Matt Grapenthien (139,500) are just some of the cast of characters who will hit the felt when the action picks back up. Defending champion Mike Wattel is also still in the hunt for back-to-back titles. Wattel ended the night on 154,500 and will look to increase that number on Day 2.
All is not lost for anyone who wasn't able to make it to the registration line before the Day 1 came to a close as registration remains open until the start of Day 2. As noted, Day 2 begins at 2 p.m. with limits at 4,000/8,000 for the first two hours of the day.
