Obst Doubles Through Cappello

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Joseph Cappello completed and James Obst raised. Cappello made it three bets and Obst called.

Cappello bet on fourth street and Obst called. Cappello bet again on fifth street and Obst raised. Cappello called.

Obst put his remaining 1,500 or so chips in the middle on seventh street and Cappello called.

Joseph Cappello: {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts} / {q-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} / {x-}
James Obst: {6-Spades}{7-Spades} / {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Spades} / {x-}

Obst had made his flush, and could improve to a straight flush but drew a {9-Clubs}. Cappello could still send Obst to the rail with a full house, but he turned over a {2-Hearts} and Obst doubled up.

Lars Gronning Eliminated in 8th Place ($23,443)

Level 22 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante
Lars Gronning
Lars Gronning

Matt Grapenthien brought in with the {3-Hearts} and Joseph Cappello just called. Lars Gronning completed. It folded to Grapenthien, who released his hand, and Cappello threw a 1,000 chip in to put Gronning all in. Gronning called and was all in.

Lars Gronning: {k-Hearts}{2-Clubs} / {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} / {x-}
Joseph Cappello: {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} / {8-Spades}{q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} / {x-}

Cappello improved to two pair on fourth street, and by sixth street Gronning had a pair of his own.

Cappello drew a {9-Clubs} on seventh street, meaning Gronning had live cards, with any ace, king, five or three meaning he stayed alive.

He drew a {2-Spades} to improve him to two pair, but it wasn't enough and he became the first elimination of the day.
