Zimmerman Doubles Through Varnell

Level 31 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante
Seth Zimmerman
Seth Zimmerman

Seth Zimmerman raised to 350,000 from the button, Craig Varnell made a pot-sized reraise to 1,150,000 from the small blind, and Zimmerman called to put himself at risk.

Seth Zimmerman: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Craig Varnell: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Varnell had the preflop edge and Zimmerman needed to improve in order to stay alive. Both players made trips on the {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop but Zimmerman had the lead with the better kicker. The {J-Hearts} on the turn gave Varnell straight and flush draws, but the {7-Spades} changed nothing, so Zimmerman took the pot to double up.

Level 31 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante

Maxime Heroux three-bet to 1 million in the small blind after Craig Varnell opened 300,000 first to act. Varnell peeled and {8-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flopped. Heroux checked and Varnell bet 2 million. Heroux tanked over a minute before releasing.

Christopher Trang Eliminated in 5th Place ($44,677)

Level 31 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante
Christopher Trang
Christopher Trang

Christopher Trang opened to 350,000 from under the gun and Maxime Heroux three-bet to 895,000 from the small blind. Trang called to put himself at risk and the two players tabled their hands.

Christopher Trang: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Maxime Heroux; {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

Heroux had the preflop advantage and Trang needed to improve in order to preserve his tournament life. He picked up some additional outs on the {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop, but the {K-Diamonds} turn gave Heroux a commanding lead, and the {A-Diamonds} river was too little too late for Trang, so Heroux took the pot to end Trang's deep run in this event in fifth place for $44,677.

Mehmood Doubles Through Varnell

Level 31 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante

Action folded around to the blinds and Craig Varnell raised to 300,000 from the small. Omar Mehmood called from the big and the two players saw a flop of {Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Varnell bet the pot for 600,000, Mehmood jammed for 865,000, and Varnell called with a covering stack.

Craig Varnell: {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
Omar Mehmood: {J-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Varnell had the lead with kings up but Mehmood had plenty of outs with straight and flush draws. The {7-Hearts} on the turn gave Mehmood his flush and left Varnell drawing thin. The {5-Spades} river changed nothing and Mehmood took the pot to double up.

Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

Craig Varnell opened for 300,000 and called the shove of Jonathan Duhamel on the button, who had 820,000.

Craig Varnell: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Jonathan Duhamel: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

Varnell was trailing but took a big lead on {6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs} with a pair of nines and a flush draw. The turn was a {k-Diamonds} and the river a {9-Spades} and he made a boat to bust the former WSOP Main Event champ.

Shaome Yang
Shaome Yang

Craig Varnell opened for 300,000, Shaome Yang called all in for slightly less on the button and big blind Maxime Heroux called. On the turn, the board read {10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and Heroux bet out Varnell. Heroux showed {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for tens full and Yang tabled {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. He needed the last ace but the river was a brick, eliminating him.
