Shelton Extends Chip Lead

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

After winning a huge pot minutes before to take over the chip lead, Michael Shelton opened another pot for 5,000 from middle position. Action folded around to well-respected pro Jason Koon in the small blind and he opted to three-bet to 16,000. Shelton made the call and then called when Koon bet 14,000 on the {2-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop.

The {5-Diamonds} turn inspired checks from both players, as did the {3-Clubs} river. "Ten high," Koon said before sheepishly showing the {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. Shelton then showed the {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} for a missed flush draw and queen high, which was good enough to win the pot.
