Liu Catches Balsiger Stealing

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Before the break, Xuan Liu and Jake Balsiger got involved in an all-in confrontation.

Balsiger raised to 225 pre-flop, Liu called from the button, and the big blind also called. The flop came {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, and Balsiger continued for 300. Liu called, but the big blind folded, and the players saw the turn heads-up. The dealer turned the {7-Clubs}, and Balsiger again led out, this time for 1,000. Liu again called, bringing the {2-Diamonds} on the river. Balsiger pushed all his chips in the middle and Liu, who held fewer chips and her opponent, went into the tank.

As Liu was thinking, Dan O'Brien and Phil Ivey started discussing their bags of nuts and trail mix, sliding the bags of food across the table in front of Liu while she considered her decision. If the nuts moving across table were distracting in any way, Liu never let on, and she eventually decided to call. It turned out to be a good read, as Balsiger showed {k-}{10-} for now pair, and Liu turned over {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for top pair.

Liu doubled up and now sits with 8,500, while Balsiger is down to 1,300.
