Bartello Makes a Flush to Survive

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

We found Mark Herm and Vincent Bartello with their cards face up and Bartello all in on a board of {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}.

Bartello: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Herm: {a-Spades}{7-Spades}

Herm was ahead with a pair of aces, but that lead quickly evaporated on the {5-Diamonds} turn. A meaningless {q-Hearts} fell on the river, and Bartello secured a double up.

Minieri Doubles Through Kelly

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Dario Minieri raised under the gun, and Steven Kelly defended his big blind.

Kelly checked a {j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop, and Minieri came out with 20,000. Kelly popped it to 44,000. Minieri put 24,000 in his hand and reached out as if to call, but announced "raise" just as he dropped the chips. He moved 50,000 more into the middle. Kelly thought for a minute, rechecked his cards, then announced "pot." Minieri called off.

"You have a set?" Minieri asked. Kelly shook his head. "I have an overpair, it's good?"

Minieri tabled {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}, and his overpair was indeed good against Kelly's {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. Bricks fell on the turn and river, and Minieri dragged a large pot.

Katz Flops Trips; Kelly Below 20 Big Blinds

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

Dan Kelly raised to 16,000 from the cutoff, Cary Katz called out of the big blind, and the dealer fanned {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {9-Spades}, Katz checked again, and Kelly tossed out 20,000. Katz called.

The {5-Clubs} completed the board, Katz knuckled a third and final table, and Kelly slid forward 40,000.

"Call," Katz said instantly.

Kelly showed {k-Spades}{q-Spades} for kings and sixes with a queen kicker, but he was crushed by Katz's {7-Spades}{6-Spades} for trip sixes.

Minieri Forces a Fold from Kelly

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Dan Kelly opened for a raise under the gun, and Dario Minieri reraised to 38,000 from the big blind. Kelly made the call.

Minieri came out betting small, with 25,000 on the flop of {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Kelly called. The turn came {3-Spades}, and Minieri switched gears in a hurry, mashing all in for 120,000. Kelly folded.

"Jack-High"

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Dario Minieri and Cary Katz were heads up on a board of {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, and Minieri led out for what looked like 17,000. Katz called.

The river was the {3-Hearts}, and Minieri fired another bullet worth 75,000. Katz called, risking a majority of his stack, and Minieri shook his head.

"Jack-high," the Italian announced.

Katz showed {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a flush, and raked in a very large pot.

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Katz Doubles

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Dan Kelly raised to 16,000 in early position, Cary Katz re-raised the pot on the button, making it 60,000 to go, and the action folded back to Kelly. Katz only had 12,000 behind, and Kelly opted to get it all in. Katz called.

Katz: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Kelly: {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Kelly was dominated, and received little help from the {5-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop. He did have two backdoor draws though, and the straight draw remained alive when the {4-Diamonds} turned. The river was three-sided, but the {6-Hearts} was a big red brick, and Katz doubled through.

Kevin Vandersmissen
Kevin Vandersmissen

Kevin Vandersmissen reraised pot from the blinds after Steven Kelly opened for a raise in middle position. Kelly went all in, and Vandersmissen called.

Kelly: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Vandersmissen: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

"I can't lose two all ins in a row can I?" Vandersmissen asked.

The board came {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, however, and that's exactly what he did.
