Gavin Gobbles Up Chips

Gavin Smith
Gavin Smith

Walking by we noticed a fairly normal hand forming at Gavin Smith's and McLean Karr's table. Karr put out a bet of 2,950. Action folded around to the player in the small blind who raised to 7,700. Smith in the big blind then moved all in for about 36,000.

Action was back on Karr who took his time making this hard decision. After a few minutes passed he made the call. The player in the big blind snap called and everyone flipped over their hands.

Smith: {A-Spades}{A-}
Small Blind: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Karr: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

The winner of this hand was going to have one of the top chip stacks in the room. Lucky for Smith he had the lead at the moment and was in prime position to win the hand. After the dealer spread a {8-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop Smith's aces were still the best. The small blind was going to need the case king, and Karr was going to need a run run straight to pull this one out.

A {7-Spades} turn eliminated Karr, and put Smith even closer to having over 100,000 in chips. A river {Q-Clubs} was placed on the felt and Smith was awarded the 119,000 chip pot.
