Selbst Still Swinging (and Not Singing)
Vanessa Selbst has been battling with a short stack for much of the day thus far, and just now was all in and at risk again. Not just to bust the tournament, but for much more (or so she believed).
Having committed the last of her chips on a flop with , Selbst needed to catch a nine, ten, or jack versus an opponent who'd called her with .
"If I bust, I have to sing a song in front of a lot of people," Selbst explained. When pressed for details, she pointed out how she, Vanessa Rousso, and Maria Ho have a last-longer bet between them. It sounded as though the first of the group to bust would have to write and perform a song "in front of 200 people."
"I've never cared so much about surviving a $1K in my life," Selbst said, and the table laughed in response.
The turn brought the , only increasing Selbst's worry. Then with great drama, the dealer delivered the river... the ! "Ohhhh," said the table. "Whew," said Selbst.
We're not entirely sure about the terms of the bet, but Selbst probably isn't aware that Vanessa Rousso has in fact busted the event, having become short-stacked on gone out during this level.
Something tells us Rousso isn't feeling so much anxiety about busting, though, according to her Twitter feed:

The "half succeeded" refers to Rousso's former table mate, Danielle Anderson, who continues to keep her seat after the earlier partying.
