Madsen and Nishijima Join The Party and Liebert Leaves
With 2,835 entrants in this bad boy, let's bring you news from the Gold Section of the Brasilia room.
Jeff Madsen is the third-youngest World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner (in fact he has 2 of them) and was the 2006 WSOP Player of the Year. So far, he has 4 WSOP cashes this year, including a 7th place finish in Event #14: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout so he is in fine fettle. We have just noticed him seated in the Gold Section of the Brasilia Room and he is settling quickly into the action.
There was a limper in middle position before Madsen made it 275 to play from the cutoff. One fold later and the small blind was calling and the limper was folding. So we were heads-up to the flop and the dealer gave them both the which was checked through. On the turn , the small blind bet 600 and it was met with a very quick call from Madsen. Fifth street was the and the small blind checked to Madsen. He took a swig from his water bottle, rolled his eyes in his head and just made the call. He turned over for the winning hand as the small blind mucked. Madsen currently has 2,350.
Another player who has just arrived in the Gold Section - and is on form - is the Brazilian Thiago Nishijima. Nishijiama has also cashed in 4 WSOP events and made a final table where he finished in 8th place in Event #36: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout. Nishijima has 3,900 chips.
One player who is no longer seated in the Gold Section is WSOP bracelet holder Kathy Liebert. We have been told that she ran into and has exited stage left.
