Chris Bjorin

New fans of poker know Andrey Pateychuk as one of the up-and-coming superstars of the game. He's earned himself about $2 million in the past year, winning two major titles along the way.

Chris Bjorin has that beat. The Swede has long been counted among the best players in the world, and his $5+ million in career earnings give Pateychuk something to aspire to. There's also those two bracelets that Pateychuk still lacks. So far, at least.

In any event, we just watched the two men mix it up in a good pot. It was sixth street before we walked up to these boards:

Pateychuk: (x-x) / {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {4-Spades} / (x)
Bjorin: (x-x) / {3-Spades} {3-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} / (x)

Bjorin was the one doing the betting on sixth and seventh streets, and Pateychuk paid him off.

"Trips and a six-low," Bjorin announced as he showed {A-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} / {3-Spades} {3-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}. Pateychuk took one quick look to make sure Bjorin knows how to read a Stud/8 hand — he does — then tucked and mucked.
