Ryan Schmidt: The Chip Leader
Earlier we told you that Ryan Schmidt had made his mark on this competition after the elimination of Eli Elezra. Well it's about time we told you a little bit more about him because he is now standing head and shoulders above the rest of the field.
This is Schmidt's 8th WSOP cash since he cashed in the $1,000 WSOP event back in 2009. This includes a 322nd place finish in the Jonathan Duhamel Main Event year; but his biggest cash to date was for $67,150 when he won a $1,000 Bellagio event containing 246 entries.
Schmidt is now our tournament leader with 400,000 chips, after eliminating Jesse Martin. We joined the action very late with Martin seated in the cutoff, Schmidt seated on the button and the pair battering the hell out of each other climaxing in an all-in pre flop showdown.

Martin couldn't find the ace and headed to the cash desk, but he must be so frustrated after being in such a good position.
