We've officially closed the books on the first day of the $1,500 Limit Hold'em event! Today's field began with 675 players and we played down to the final 130 today. At the end of ten levels of play, Chris Tryba emerged as our Day One chip leader, finishing the day with 67,300 in chips. Close behind are Jason Kim with 59,900 and Sean Nguyen with 55,500.

Today's field started out slow in terms of big name professional players, but by the day's end we ended up with a field packed full of notables. Some thrived and some faltered in the face of this $1,500 Limit Hold'em event. Among those that fell out of the running today include Daniel Negreanu, Jean-Robert Bellande, Allen Cunningham, Joe Sebok, Steve Billirakis, and Phil Gordon.

However, while many big names were eliminated from the field, there still remained players who rose to the top and survived on to compete in Day 2. Among those moving on are Barry Shulman, Tom Schneider, Matt Matros, Chino Rheem, and the femme fatales Jennifer Harman and J.J. Liu. Each of these players has a shot of grabbing the event's top prize of $205,065 and it will be interesting to see who rises to the top during day two play.

Join us tomorrow here on PokerNews when we resume play of this $1,500 Limit Hold'em event, where the remaining players will compete for a prize pool of $911,250. Our live coverage will continue tomorrow at 2:30pm PST from the Amazon Room here at the Rio if you'd like to come and rail the action!
