Brikis Takes a Hit

A short-stacked player limped from middle position only to have Josh Brikis move all in from the hijack. After the blinds both got out of the way, the short-stacked player shrugged and committed his 1250,000.

Brikis: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Opponent: {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

It was a flip for a pot worth 250,000. The {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop kept Brikis in the lead, but the {J-Spades} turn was disaster. Brikis shook his head as if to say, "It never fails." The {Q-Spades} turn changed nothing and Brikis' stack was essentially cut in half.
